VOIP number portability?

I want to put two sip lines into my exchange, but my question is this;
If I find a better deal with another voip provider, would I be able to move and keep my number?
I'm not going to change it all just to find that I need to get a new number in a couple of months or a year, or be tied to a bad service provider for the sake of a number.

There are no plans for VoIP number portability at present.

Geographic number portability will be available from 26 April 2010 and a few VoIP providers will be be able to offer GNP. To date, Switch Telecom, Vox Telecom and ECN have all publicly stated that they'll be partaking in GNP, however, it possible that others may be as well.
