VOIP routers question

Morning everyone,

I see some routers are VOIP routers, but does that mean that other routers wont run VOIP at all?

I basically just need 1 VOIP phone, with possibly 1 landline call and 1 VOIP call going on at the same time.

So will a normal router do?

Hi Bradley,

Generally most standard routers can do VoIP although some so have some issues that cause 1 way audio issues.
From my experience Billion & Netgear work well for VoIP Services on an ADSL Line

Hi There,
use voip all the time. Works fine over netgear and tp-Link.

I am sure that most routers will work just fine.

I think the VoIP routers you are taking about include an rj11 connector at the back where you can plug in a handset. You can configure the sip settings within the router web interface.

Is that what you are referring to?

The other (non voip?) routers will be able to run VoIP using a softphone on you computer, a VOIP phone or an ata on your network
