Hi

One of my friends, who is in our regular WoW group, is having serious computer / internet woes. He is currently playing on an old laptop over iBurst while saving up for a new rig.

The main issue is voice. The other night, Mumble brought his laptop to its knees. He was lagging so much, that in the end he killed mumble, and his wife opened up her mic on her netbook so we could hear both of them. :(

My question is thus, what is the most lightweight, resource forgiving VOIP software out there? If mumble killed his laptop / connection, should we even bother trying Vent, Teamspeak or Mohawk?

mumble have a option( its a slider) to reduce bandwidth and quality.

it lightest of them all if you put it on minimum bandwidth usage.

ts2 you can set you connection so low as 1kbs or less, though cant really hear anything then :P

teamspeak 3 is bandwidth hog don't even try it :P

Thanks a lot....I just hope it's a bandwidth issue, and not his laptop.

ts3 u can also set the bandwidth rate, well if you are admin on the server, just get one of the guys with a better connection to host a ts3 server

ts3 is less of a bandwith hog than ts2, thats for sure. had massive issues with it before. vent has always been alrite, never had any issues with it. dunno bout mumble tho
