Volunteer organisations

Well basically I have school holidays coming up in 2 weeks (the length of the holidays being 4 weeks) and I want to do something constructive during the holidays besides chilling with my buddies...

So what volunteer organisation should I look at? I'm not really one of those Greenpeace hippie types :sick:, but would gladly help with IT stuff or anything else really. I wouldn't want to work in the townships though. And preferably organizations where you get to work with the fairer sex :p (Yes, the hidden meaning behind all this ;) )

Any suggestions? I am in the Cape Town area.
 
Ok take chicks out of the equation (unless you likes der mature) and spend some time at an old age home ................ it's sad how many peeps don't visit their parents once they're in a home :( I've done it for about 11 years now and the oldies love the visits :D
 
my uncle still pics up my granny every afternoon so they can spend time together, yes, every afternoon, well someone has to cook for him :D and iron his clothes and stuff.. shame

SPCA. I do it fairly often and I can assure you that it is rewarding, eye opening and plenty hot women walk through that door. Nothing like pulling out the puppy trick in front of a lonely female.
 
Dude, you're volunteering. It's supposed to be giving of yourself. Your not going to have the most awesome time hooking chicks AND being a good person.
 
A lot of these organisations have a real need for people with admin/IT skills. There are a lot of people who want to do the front end side of volunteering - feeding sick kids or whatever - but fewer who want to slog away in a back room setting up systems and processes and tax receipts and that sort of thing. So find an area that interests you - cancer or poverty relief or something and approach them, I'm sure they will be interested.
 
I want to get one o my website involved in charity, but not the usual... If you get involved in a IT-type charity project, plz lemme know and I can write about it and publish?
 
I would say Habitat for Humanity, but you don't want to work in townships.

How about cleaning penguins, cant remember the place though, I think its Sancob. I'm sure there should be some hot chicks all emo over the penguins and you can play on that to get some action.
 
I wish we had penguins in Durban. All we have here are a bunch of sardines and they get butchered.

Any places in Durban for volunteering. Other than the SPCA? I prefer helping animals though.

only white folk put their parents in retirement homes... in the black community it's a disgrace...
