Volvo C30 T5

I am sorry but I do not like the C30 AT ALL!! Think it's one of the ugliest cars on the road. But hey, that's just in my opinion. If you like it then go for it. It's a Volvo and they seem like well put together cars. Also like you said, it is quite safe :)

That being said... I would take one of these anyday!!!

one of the ugliest cars but you still want this one??? Not a hell of a lot of difference now is there??

I have driven the 2010 C30 T5 R Design amazing car sits well and the power is mind blowing!

Good car in my opinion.!

lucky f'er .... :D

how much did you pay for it if you don't mind me asking

Was R260,000 ... 2008 old and 18 months old with 40,000km on the clock.

The first C30 R Design in the country actually ;) And the pre-face listed ones are extremely difficult to get. There's not even 50 in the country actually. They started coming out after the facelift in 2010.

As I say, quite loaded compared to similar cars - cruise control, sunroof, xenons, auto wipers, auto dim mirror, electric seats, heater mirrors, 10x speaker Dynaudio Pro Logic II/6 x CD/USB/iPod and my favourite - puddle lights under the mirrors :P

Atleast it compensates with A LOT of speed to look past the uglyness!!

That's a monster!

You see what it does to other hot hatches ...

I can BEAT your claim to fame. :)
I had a 2010 C30 T5 R-Design. It was the first one in the country with BSR performance kit. Had all the extras minus the stereo, but plus a front sway bar. Hehe, nice car, loved it.

hehe ... took it for a service to Bryanston and they actually called me up : 'is this real? Or did you go out of your way to add blue dials etc?' The first landed here March 2008.

I remember yours ... loved it actually.

Isn't that the one I wanted to buy in the end?
Yours had the keyless entry extra?

Lol to blue dials, it still looks better than the facelift version if you ask me ;).

Yep it was that one, eventually went to a buyer in Durbs. I hear it'has been modded, if you ask me it was fast enough already!
But I'll never forget the fun I had with it!

I think the buyer was up here at one of the breakfast runs .... I'm sure I saw a photo up here in JHB with the rest.

Yea - I'm actually happy with the power myself. Not interested in doing much else to it - but they're all doing that K16 (I think?) turbo upgrade ... I had a few PMs to buy your car so people could buy mine and do the K16, as I was closer to warranty expiring than you were.

Oh well :)

The rear is subjective and not favorite part of te car either ... But I don't see an issue with the one in the photo (subjective I guess)

It's more the Twilight silber/black bumper, thin tyres I'm not a huge fan of ;)

Yeah, those do look terrible :(

Sorry but it's sexy any which way... The r-design gets full marks obviously but the other aren't bad at all... Especially if you're into the unique look - far less predictable than getting a BMW/ Golf GTI etc etc. Nothing wrong with those cars but I suppose the car needs to match the driver in terms of styling and attitude...

Am considering buying one ... any advice ... pros and cons?

Love the styling - it's different - can get top of the range for less - Volvo's are safe cars - it's got sex appeal (well IMO at least) - it's a two door...

Besides all that... how are services and general maintenance?

Anyone owned one that can comment?

Nah, don't bother. I see a blue one every so often in the parking lot near my local and it's nothing to get excited about.

That's more of a personal preference - I'm asking more about anyone who knows if there are mechanical or other non aesthetic reasons to purchase it... Resell value perhaps - cost of parts - difficulty finding parts...

Too me it's an awesome looking car - to you obviously not but this is why we have options

I get comments on the car often - every day or two.

Told my anti-Volvo friend who kept mocking me ... Until he came with me and saw/heard himself.

True story ... :)
