Hi all
I'm currently looking for another car as the one I'm currently driving is pretty old and many thing start to go wrong with it, a 2006 Ford Focus.I have my eyes on the Volvo v40 Cross country, simply for the looks. Are these good and reliable and also maintenance on the Ford is not bad at all, but what about the v40 when it comes to maintanace, and overall reliability on this model.I always see one driving the opposite direction every morning to work and kinda fell in love with it.

I'm looking at the V40 too so I'll be watching this thread. The car was based on the Ford Focus platform, back when Ford owned them. Has some of the driving characteristics apparently.

I happen to have a 2018 V40 (not the cross country though) which I'm looking to sell. Love the car, but considering a downgrade. Let me know if you'd be interested

Just remember, volvo for life!

You ain't getting much money back when you sell it :P

Just stay away from any volvo with power-shift transmission, this comes from ford and it is known to have issues.

Does this mean the resale value is crap?

Yup, that's why getting a 2nd hand one is very attractive in terms of value. But you need to keep it for long.
Powershift is not the greatest gearbox.
