In the upcoming elections are you guys going to vote DA or some white party or would you consider voting for the break away party?

As i see it nobody wants zuma and surely we should vote for the party that would more than likely be competing with him, if we voted anything else would that not be increasing zuma's/ANC hold on the election? I mean the DA are never going to come close to winning so why vote for them?

I find it funny how you say some white party. Any party that has that kind of image is just about fuc*ed. But OT probably DA.

I'm with you on this. IMO the DA are ineffective, but they are the official opposition so who else is there really? I'm waiting to see what terror and his band of merry men are like.

and with more than 1.6 million new voters registered .... the DA, long with a coalition, might just be there or thereabouts this time around ;)

The DA is more than likely to form a coalition with the Congress of the People, so no need to choose between the two of them.

Not so sure about that, is it possible the DA might fancy their chances with 2 split parties?

Just out interest i know blacks out number whites around 8 or 9 to 1 possibly more, but what majority of the black voting population are Zulu's? I would imagine every single zulu in this country will be behind zuma?

I know a Zulu guy who's also a member of the ANC and trust me, they won't just be voting for Zuma because he's Zulu.
"Every time Zuma and Malema speaks the ANC loses votes" That's what he tells me on a daily basis. There is A LOT of upset ANC members.(Zulu's and Xhosa's)

A sad reflection of the state of affairs in S.A is that the DA is the only viable option :(

The only party's that have white peoples interests at heart are the DA and FF.

It would be stupid to vote for the breakaway party because their policies will be no different from the ANC's.

Yeah - where's the SA version of the Republican Party?

Too many have fled the banana republic. The loony left have got their cake now so they must eat it with delicious toppings of Malema, Zuma and co

:D

The only way to scare the crap out of the ANC and get them to stop being so arrogant is for the COPE party to come in with a strong percentage of the votes. I think they've got a better chance of being the official opposition than the DA. I'm probably going to vote for COPE but I can't say for sure until it gets closer to the elections.

Ok so happens if the majority of voters vote for the Da who no chance and zuma does become president and the country goes to crap, should we not blame ourselves for not voting for a party that actually had a chance? From what i can tell most people want anybody but zuma and the DA won't win so would our votes not be helping the ANC win rather than opposing them and helping them lose? It's alot of votes not going the way of the new party, could turn the vote away from the ANC.

Borak u say the best is DA but they have no chance of winning or even coming close. Seems like a waste to vote for them and hand it over to the anc/zuma who people hate so much.

Gazer those are my thoughts as well. Seems pointless to go and vote for the DA because we will be just giving our votes away and helping the ANC surely.

Not enough support for Republican (US)-styled policies: smaller government; lower tax on the rich; smaller social welfare schemes and programmes. For goodness sake there are millions of people in our country struggling for basics.

Sure, in the US context the policies of the Republican party make much sense, but not here in RSA.

The only challenge to the ANC will come in the form of a coalition, and whoever makes up such a coalition WILL require the DA to be in on the coalition (provided people vote for the DA and DA achieves % similiar to 2004).

I get to vote for the 1st time in my life next year.

One thing that got me thinking, you get your "main" partys like the DA, ANC and the likes, but then you get these really small partys that get like < 1% each... if all those partys were not there and all the people that would have voted for them voted for the next best "main" party, how big a difference would it make? Makes ya think.

I'm following the Mbhazima Shilowa page on Facebook closely. It's actually great to see the enthusiasm the supporters have.
