Do any of you have issues with some protocols not working with Vox?

They're a brilliant ISP on the whole and everything works - but tiny things don't work with Vox, that do on my Telkom ISP. Many months back it was WhatApp photos - they refused to go through when sending. Receiving was fine though and I just learnt to disconnect WiFi, send and reconnect. That seems to work now.

What still doesn't work though, is the SpeedTest on my mobile device and I've got a PS4 game that won't connect to the PSN server on Vox. I swap to Telkom and it's fine?

Line is 20Mbit and I get 17Mbit true speed with good latency. Line stats seems ok, so not the line at all. Also doesnt sem to be my equipment or firewall.

I had issues trying to use my 'non-vox' voip phone. Spoke to my voip provider and they were pretty sure that the port in question was blocked out for non vox phones. Not sure how true it is and never really got round to testing. (Apart from my phone not working)

also get whatsapp problems quite often.

quite often have problems with downloading although its been better the past week

What PS4 game are you having problems with? is this exclusively the single title or games in general on the ps4?

I only really play one title online - Sniper Elite 3. When on Vox I can't even get to the lobby and try connect 5 or 6 times. Switch to TI, instant connetion.

The past week or so being trying to download from the Android store and kept getting Error 400. Change to TI, everything downloads first time.

And as I said, not the line speed as I get close on 2MB/sec on downloads - there is something else. They have good customer care and have tried to assist.

I used them for a year when the were free so wasn't a huge thing, but now paying additional and having to use TI or 3G on certain services isn't cool.

I'll try get a video this weekend of how it works on both

No idea ; I'll check tonight and let you know!

I've had problems in the past with League of Legends and PS3 GTA V updates in the past despite open NAT. Had to change ISP to download.

Looks like Vox are falling apart. I was promised a call from one of their engineers about 4 days ago. Nothing. Sad actually, they showed so much potential.

when you run an internet test on the ps4 what NAT type does it indicate?
Both say the same NAT Type 2. TI let's me play online and Vox won't connect.

Vox also won't let me download anything from the Android store right now, while TI does let me

Good to know that NAT type detection means nothing at the end of the day considering ADSL, but boils down to what works and what doesn't, and the wisdom/courage to move with the times.

I don't regret leaving.

Troll out...;)

I have similar issues with Vox and PS4. I run NAT2 and to me it seems that ever since the Seacom cable-break (about 3 weeks ago) things just took a turn for the worse. On my PS4 I will get speed-tests on my 20mbps line ranging from 4mbps to 13mbps. Playing any online game (Destiny, GTA, Battlefield) is just a PITA.

Strangely, downloads and other things just work perfectly.

Last night both ISPs gave between 1.6mpbs and 2.3mbps on my 20mbps line on PS4 :(

What about Android downloads for you guys?
I get Error 400 on Vox

I'm going to chat to technical because frankly this is ridiculous.

Also having all sorts of VOX problems - mostly in the early evening:

- XBox live often takes a very long time to sign in
- Sometimes can't even ping Netflix / Unotelly
- Netflix streams in SD almost all the time the last few months
- Youtube low quality streams / buffering

On top of that support takes 24 hours to answer queries and sometimes not at all.

Switch to my CrystalWeb account and it all works 100%. Live support answers queries in under a minute.

So I cancelled VOX and will increase the size of my CrystalWeb account - its almost double the price but worth every cent IMHO.

Yeah, thats the thing though. Crystalweb is damn expensive. When Vox is good, they are very good. But when they are bad, they are useless.

CrystalWeb : R549 for 225Gb
Vox : R489 for 200Gb

I was on the R169 for R150Gb deal therefore the steep increase for me.

Yes Gig for gig VOX is a bit cheaper but happy to pay the premium for a service that works and is 100% unshaped 100% of the time. I guess I've become to old and grumpy to want to deal with unreliable ISP's just to save some money :-)

2 Free NewsServers (NextgenNews + IS) does not hurt either :-)

PS: Axxess capped is R379 for 200Gb if you're looking for a cheaper option. Not using them personally but heard only good things.

WhatsApp is a big headache through Vox.

It seems like text-only messages goes through without fail, but as soon as they include a photo/video/audio message, it just hangs and never finishes the download.

Several streaming video sites also get stuck at 1% and then displays the spinning wheel animation without continuing the video.

Switching to another ISP account or connecting to a VPN on the Vox account sorts this out without changing anything else.

Why on earth are they doing this?

Seeing as Vox can't be bothered to reply to this thread, I decided to cancel my accounts with them.

Would have stayed if they could fix these issues, but it has become enough of a hassle to make the decision to leave.
