Hi all,

Vuma finally installed my ONT/CPE/whatever today, but it's going to take minimum 4 days for Vox to get a technician out to do an install. I have a router already (one of the normal TP-link ones they always provide with these fibre installs) so thought I'd attempt a self-install since I have the data UN/Password - but I've realised I don't know the PPPoE details. Was hoping someone here could provide them? Then I can get connected tonight instead of taking time off work to sit at home on the phone with the support line

TIA

Which area are you in? If you are in a Vumatel Active Ethernet area, you can set your router's WAN interface as DHCP and should get an IP address from your ISP if they have activated the service on the CPE. - Layer3 service

If you are in a GPON area, they will need to confirm with Vumatel that the ONT is provisioned and provide you with your PPPoE/Static IP/DHCP lease etc. - Layer2 Service

I'm unsure tbh. It's Observatory in CT which is Vumatel Aerial, not sure what that translates to in terms of what you're talking about

Router auto-detected the settings so I'm sorted. Apart from that I'm not getting the speeds I was promised :/

You are in the GPON area of Vumatel.

Unfortunately the system that Vumatel uses for GPON is very problematic :/

So yes, it can take a fair amount of time to get online from the time you are installed.

Why do you say so? I believe it is a new area so I would assume they deploy newer/better stuff if they had issues with previous deployments.

I would believe so too. But their national GPON provisioning system is a little more finicky than their Active Ethernet system.
