Vox Hosting

Stay away.
I have a client with a site there and it's really crappy.
Had downtime for 3 days after VOX had a hardware failure, communication is really poor, and half the php functions and libraries aren't available on their servers. Can't even use Curl :(

Can't say I've had a great experience there either. Ended up keeping NS there and using a third-party for hosting, due to similar issues. This was from one client admittedly.

Actually have been using them for about two years. 2012 was quite ok, but 2013 was really poor. My Joomla site goes offline every few days, often just before or after midnight to sometime in the morning. Usually comes up after I email hosting support or escalations. The hosting customer response team is not a problem, but I am annoyed with the downtime, especially since the hardware failure a few months ago as it has increased. I have a duplicate site running with more traffic elsewhere and no problems 24/7. I was curious if I was unique.

Vox couldn't host a wet brown paper bag.

Endless problems with their email and hosting.

STAY AWAY! I will NEVER EVER EVER touch Vox again.
 
Well, as I already use WebAfrica for other business related areas, I chose to start moving my site over to them today.

Wow! What a breeze compared to when I setup with Vox two years ago. No freaking contracts, no waiting for someone to mail me my access details, and their new customer control panel is really nice. Within a few minutes I was setup and within an hour I had an IP address for my site as well. Never had to speak to or email anyone! Their R1 special was running at the correct time :D

Let's hope it remains plain sailing....

Thanks, I see they also running a promo on VPS for R1pm for 1st 2 months. Can cancel anytime.

Expect downtime and huge incompetence on their part.

They kept going offline for our CORPORATE email. They deleted user mailboxes without being asked, nor did they provide any warning and then didn't keep a backup of the mail they deleted. They also constantly didn't fix the issues at hand.

I will never ever ever ever ever touch Vox again.

I hope this doesn't come back to bite you, but I'm pretty sure it will.

I've yet to deal with a more inept IT provider in South Africa.

Your reply does not quite make sense from the point of which Hosting provider you are addressing. I was being positive about WA, and your reply to it was to say beware. I would think you are referring to WA, but you then reference Vox. So either you didn't read my response correctly and thought I was signing up with Vox, or made a mistake in referencing Vox when it should have been WA? Anyway, so far so good from my side with using WA :)
