Hi all.
I hope the thread make sense. I have the following router from Vox.
MikroTik Hap ac2
From this router with CAT6 cable I go to 4 different TP Link Routers and they are: (because the main routers signal is just plain useless)
1 x AC1350 Archer C60 (BTWiFi)
2 x TL-WR940N (Garage and Patio)
1 x TL-WA901ND (Oupa&Ouma)

The HoltzWiFi [5Ghz} is the main router
All are on our inverter so there are hardly any power interruptions. (except when I overload the inverter LOL) I have config them as access points.
It seems like after a few times of loadshedding in the area, these routers lose their connectivity to the main VOX router even though connected with cable. I then have to reconfigure all the routers again before they get internet. When you connect to these routers it says "connected without internet".
1) Is it a main router issue? Can I change it? Change to what if it is?
2) Is it the TP links that are an issue? What would you suggest to use?
3) What can I do to resolve this at it is massively irritating when there's no internet. And as most of us have it... all in the household looks to dad for an answer.
Will really appreciate your help.
Thanks for a GREAT forum!

On your main router have you given these devices a static IP in your internal IP pool?

Had a similar issue where my main router would assign a different internal IP to my secondary router every couple days (probably when IP lease expired) and it caused the router to freak out and say connected but no internet.

Assigned my secondary router a fixed IP and since then i have had 0 problems. With the fixed IP i can also log into the router by typing the IP into my browser where previously whichever IP it had it defaulted me to my main routers interface.

Hi CrypticZA.
Thanks for taking time in replying and your help.
No I haven't done any static IP's. To be frank, I don't even know how to log into my main MikroTik router. Will definitely look into this.
Thanks so much!!

Vox will make you sign an indemnity form that says you take full responsibility for anything that goes wrong and that's the only way to get the details from them to get onto the router so maybe first try log a ticket with them and explain the issue as they manage the Mikrotik.

Never rely on a Isps router for your network. Find out it's ip, set your lot up with all statics and pointing to the isp router ip as a gateway.

Ask vox to restrict a range ie: sub 100 static and it can do dhcp post 100, alternatively have your own internal dhcp on a separate network and do a bridge to that one via on of yours.

If you have a very simple network, you could use theirs but I personally don't like it. As soon as you start going to multiple aps and complexity, invest in a decent gateway for your home.

Absolutely the above if you can't get rid of their router, but even with Vox, throw their router out the door and just get your own instead... then all the networking equipment behind the fibre connection is yours and under your full control.

Where abouts do you stay - this sounds like a pay it forward situation to fix that mess in person
Maybe I can try help you remotely to fix the issue - or you can follow along with how I would solve it.
For starters I would get access to the Mikrotik or atleast the PPPOE "(dial-up)" details.
If memory serves Vox configure those remotely via their web interface, and that would be the only other place you can set the WiFiname or even get the details for the Mikrotik device they supply.
https://customer.vox.co.za/login is a starting point, thereafter we tackle each router individually

You can get your fibre dial in details off the portal from vox, I have a TP link LB as my primary gateway and that connects direct to the ONT and dials using thier connection.

I threw out the microtik, bought two reyee rh-ew32000 gx pro wifi 6 routers ,one set as router the other as ap. Gives me very fast wifi throughout my house
