At first I thought it was just the long weekend which was causing my Inbox to be really quiet, but then it dawned on me... VOX / @lantic email must be down AGAIN. It is the fourth time in three months that emails just stop coming through and who knows how many important emails got lost.

Obviously they are trying to get rid of their old Absamail subscriber base, so fine, I'm moving everything to my Gmail account. I should have done it ages ago, but informing old contacts that your address has changed is such a pain.

So here's the question: is there any easy way to get a historical list of incoming and outgoing email addresses for my Absamail address(es) ? In Gmail you can see months of history in the Bin folder and sort by sender, but I can't see anything similar on VOX / @lantic webmail.

1) Download your mail from @lantic to a PST file in Outllook.

2) Set up your Gmail account to use IMAP.

3) Set up your Gmail within Outlook using IMAP

4) Once Gmail is open and functioning in Outlook, open the PST file that contains your old mail and just drag & drop the mail to the Gmail folders - Use the move instead of copy so that you will know what has been moved..

5) Set up a mail forward on the @lantic account to the Gmail account for any new mail.

6) You can also set up your Gmail account to also open and manage your @lantic account during the transition.

Thanks - that's some great tips

Since I already have Gmail going to an Outlook PST, I only needed to add 1 & 4. I didn't even think about 5, so I'll do that now... of course, it requires the @lantic mail to actually work first. ;-)

I was intrigued by your suggestion #6, so I went digging around the Gmail help files and was surprised to find that Gmail can actually manage other accounts during a transition. That's awesome !

Thanks for the advice - it's really helpful.

No Worries Mate..

Be sure to do a move of the mail, since it does tend to time out during the operation and that will give you a definitive starting point again. This could take a while to complete.

Be sure to stick with the IMAP configuration, as it give you far greater versatility across devices and platforms of all your mail.

You will never need to change your mail hosting again.
