Vox - stupid slow GitHub / AWS EC2 / S3 speeds

Over the last week, I noticed that VOX's network drops of a cliff in terms of bandwidth to US AWS services and Github around about ~4:15 pm ~5:30 pm every day this persists till after I go to bed, but the next morning everything is flying again. I'm not talking a slight reduction in speed I'm talking going from 200mbit down to old dialup modem 28.8/56kbitsi.e. 5-10KB/sec speeds. Taking over 2 minutes to download a small 2mbyte files, taking 10 minutes to load simple websites loaded on EC2 in the USA.

I contacted support etc, their lower-tier guys were helpful etc acknowledged there was an issue, etc. till I got to the senior tier guy who just stonewalled giving any support at all saying they don't guarantee international speeds and tough luck. What an a$ $hole feck tard.

Anyway, has anyone else been seeing the same thing? Slow downloads from some sites (particularly AWS EC2 / S3 buckets?) When I VPN through our company MACROLAN network the issue goes away.

I am going to wait for a senior manager to give me a call to see if they resolve their problem or say that their "problem" state is acceptable and the normal sh! t they are selling. Steering clear of them for now...

I have exactly the same issue as you are experiencing.

It's like clockwork for me at 4:15pm everyday. It's like a limiter or something kicks in.

I'm also on 200/200

VPN wise you have a few choices you can go via Warp via wireguard (you can find a tutorial on Mybb by Cavedog) which is free, i get very good speeds but it picks all your traffic up in JHB.

<- can't choose location

Then Windscribe has a build your own plan $1 for uncapped data and then $1 per location or you can do their pro version for like $12 i think it is. You can also sign up for a free account and get 10GB per month - if you wnat to try their pro version speak to Gary their bot and they ill give you pro for 24 hours to try it out (JHB servers only) <- Free account connected to London

NordVPN i am currently using for playing Apex, i connect to their London server and speeds are generally good and ping is amazing 150ms to Belgium vs 180-190 on my normal ISP using AWS transit. They have a 30 day money back guarantee.
<- random London server

All tests done via 50/5 Vumatel line connecting to London where possible

Hi,

Can confirm, from my experience, VOX is limiting Amazon S3 downloads (to <50Kbps).

Tried to download a PDF file from a website... The DL started at around 50Kbps but then decreased to zero over a few minutes and it actually failed. This happened multiple times. As soon as I changed over to another ISP the file downloaded almost instantly.

Ditto for another file, from another site, which I also noticed was hosted by Amazon S3.

It is on vumatel. Like clockwork 4:15 pm speed drops to sub 10kb/sec. But peering via VPN through vox to macrolan and then out presents no issues. VOX support is just stone walling, "we do not garentee international bandwidth we cant do anything 1kb/second is acceptable bla bla bla".

Same issue. After 4 pm all my services cannot resolve until like 10 pm. I thought it me so was away for work for 2 weeks and back, still the same issue tonight. It only happened today after 4:30 today. All the services cannot connect. Speed test shows fine. Amazon and some Azure services giving issues every single day between 4 to 10. I was running smooth for 2 years and 3 months on old isp.

I have noticed as well, slow downloads from some sites, I am on Vox capped ADSL. Think its been more than a month now, more like 2, tried to download Freenas from github after 4pm when I first noticed it.

I thought my exchange might be congested, but after it started happening more frequently I switched to another ISP, immediately got normal speeds, same file.

Hi,

I'm on Vox ADSL.

Could you please try this link: link

It's a 23MB VS Code plugin from Github... It's downloading at around 55KBps on my 10Mbps line.

Edit: 4MB left... Slowed down to 20-30 KBps.

This site is rather good when it comes to doing a speedtest to EU AWS otherwise all the other servers

Range of servers on the EC2 that will test ie example for me on CISP right now
