I have now received two spam emails punting their VOIP phones. The mails claim to be from "[email protected]" but have a slimy "Unsubscribe" to a Yahoo address "[email protected]". They have obviously harvested ".co.za" addresses. Has anyone else been getting these?

Scum! Bastards! Never going to buy your crap now.
:eek::eek:

Last time I checked spam was illegal in SA if I remember right. It's not hard to see who's benefitting from this spam.

I'm starting to think the forum is having some problems.

It's more likely that someone is using their name (prob a reseller) as a front...

fyi you should get some spam filtering software....just in case..:o

What I've heard from a source recently is that they have some scheme for marketing their VOIP phones. It works something in the line of you pay X amount to become a member and then you get 10 or something members that you referred, and when they sign up, you get some kind of financial compensation for recruiting more members. and so on and so on. not sure exactly what the deal is but I can get hold of the info.
So I suspect it might be one of those members trying to get more members.

Starting to sound a bit like a pyramid scheme.

Well, at least they aren't as underhand as Planet Fitness, calling you about your "voucher" etc...now they ought to be dragged infront of a council..

Hi

There is a vox dealer who owns the domain voxonline.co.za who is spamming and not vox themselves I am sure they would not want to jeopordise a multi million rand business for a fews clients, I have reported the spammer to vox and to thier ISP and as far as I know the person will be dealt with.

As for Vox being a pyramid scheme, it certainly is not they offer people the opportunity to become dealers and sell their product and in return receive commission there is no pressure though to purchase the product to become a dealer.

referral marketing / network marketing is very different from a pyramid scheme if you would like the different definitions let me know, Vox is a member of the DSA and operate a perfectly legit buisiness and offer a great opportunity for anyone to make some extra bucks.

The short of it all is that you cannot blame the company (Vox) for spam when its a the actions and fault of a individual who does not know or understand the art of internet marketing.

I believe you are incorrect. It is likely that the relationship between Vox and a dealer is probably one of Agency, where the dealer is acting legally under Vox's responsibility. The domain the idiot registered looks and purports to be Vox, to any reasonable person - Vox should protect their trademarks. Vox are to blame.

In any event if Vox want to allow some halfwit to drag their name through the spamming mud, so be it. And a pyramid scheme by any other ( marketing bullsh1t ) name is still a pyramid.

LOL you can't duck out of it THAT easily!

Sorry but when that individual is acting as their agent, under their name, using a website that purports to be them, then they are fully responsible.

This webace bulsh1tter appears to be just a Vox VOIP reseller. He has a tacky web site, with the ONLY contact details an email form and an 087 number. No names, no packdrill, no refunds LOL. He hasn't paid his R50 either!

Domain: getvox.co.za

Accounting info....
Date |Type| Cost |Invoices are E-Mail to....|Paid Date |ICnt| TrkNo |Billing Info
2007-10-25| N | 50.00|[email protected] | NOT PAID | 2 | 849441|Ace-Net

Now, owned by Frederick Riley T/A Ace-Net. Ace-Net = webace? Haloweb's contact = getvox's contact. He also pimps haloweb in his sig. Haloweb has a fascinating blog last updated 25 Mar, one dodgy entry. Looks like a frontend for overseas hosting.

Mix it all together and what do you get? Vox MLM slime I reckon. Avoid!
