Vox Telecom reduces uncapped ADSL prices

@cvanwie is there a way to just swap products ? ie i want to swap my 300gb capped account for this uncapped product can it be done ?
just asking because i'm sure most people wont want to wait the 30 days to cancel their existing products just to take up this new offering.

Unfortunately I don't have that information. You'll need to contact support / sales for that info.

I don't believe this can be done simply because when the 100GB+ promo was on, there were customers wanting to upgrade from the 50GB packages. I had well over 200GB at the time and had to let it go or use it. It also has to do with how the accounts are vetted on the system.

As for waiting 30 days, they didn't say if this promo has a limited quantity or a period it is running for so you will just have to wait it out or give your account to a friend* and recoup some monies.

* Login details also have your account info so are sensitive hence why i mentioned friend :p , wait, access details differ i guess...

These are most likely new uncapped accounts on the vox backbone. Based on chatter a few weeks back it seemed like vox were planning to do uncapped a bit different than others. Unshaped, but with line speed reductions at clear gig amounts.

e.g.

at 150 gigs line speed is halved
at 250 gigs it is halved again.

etc

But it's all speculation, we will have to wait and see what the thresholds are.

TBH if it is honest I don't have a problem with this.

If Vox can keep the momentum up, I foresee them becoming the market leader very soon... FTTH and ADSL dominance are certainly a possibility. (Especially FTTH, they are working like dogs to establish marketing presence even at a suburb level).

Yeah, if the first threshold is around my average usage i'll jump to them in a heartbeat.

Sounds like a great deal.

I am on the 100 GB promo, the first two months I did not use it as I still had data left from the Samsung deal, but I now realize that 100 GB is not enough. Went through about 250 GB last month. It might even become more now I am on 20 Mb VDSL. So I was looking at alternatives.

Actually I now realize the 20Mb VDSL looks like is not cut at all.

Hi all,

The fair use policy will be published on our website within the next 36 hours. Product told me that it should be up by end of day, otherwise tomorrow morning sometime.

We feel very strongly that this kind of information is key to provide so there are no questions about the service.

No stars, no windows; the rest will be explained when published. Once I hear that it's on the site; I'll update this post.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris

I actually joined VOX recently , last weekend to be exact with the 4Mb uncapped (For R359) , will the price be auto adjusted to the new one or are you going to upgrade the speed to 8Mb ?
Any chance you can get someone to phone me in regards with this or update here ?

Given how great VOX Account generally perform, especially Fatpipe, I almost want to say this is bad move from VOX. Surely this will lead to complaining users w.r.t. throttling etc that will tarnish their reputation?

They are going to disclose the threshold values. Just keep checking the forum for updates or like some of us who are refreshing the website constantly :D.

I have just cancelled my account with Afrihost because of their poor network performance, so I am monitoring this thread like a hawk :D

Same here. Disappointing their network goes pear shaped beginning and end of month.

I should subscribe to this. Those uncapped prices are extremely tempting. In fact I don't know how they can be sustainable. R289 for 4mbps uncapped sounds like it's going into Openweb 'special deal' territory to me. Will be keen to hear feedback from subscribers.

Still waiting for the to disclose the treshold values....sent them an email even before i got to see this thread

I just got royally fed up with AH. I was getting 24 Kbps on my 2Mbps Business uncapped account - not acceptable, but the only excuse is that a better network is coming soon.

Just signed up with Vox and now I'm getting 190Kbps. I'm not waiting to see what the FUP is any longer - anything is better than AH at the moment...
