VoxTelecom Telkom FTTH

That is not what the lady at VOX fibre department told me.

Hence my question ;)

I phoned Vox and they could not answer the question for me.They phoned me back and said it cant be done .I asked again if they are sure on Telkom FTTH.
Please Vox rep get an official response otherwise you going to get bad PR

I dont want to loose my 150gb rolled over data

I asked Ispafrika if I could rent a fibre line and use Vox data and they said no but not a convincing no.

Does VOX do naked fibre line like Webafrica.Anybody know the price of Webafrica naked fibre lines?

This issue is going to be asked again and again,Please Vox clear it up once and for all

I think the problem the sales reps have is something of the following.

They have 7 fibre providers, of the 7 only one can dail the normal ADSL accounts because of the Telkom network inter-connectivity(IPC).

So for them to say no for all is a rather common choice, since 6 of the fibre providers can only dail the provided acc with sign up and only the Telkom one can do normal DSL accounts from ISP's.

So maybe they just need an update on how things tie together.

just a thought.

Cheers

[Edit] I have also spoken with two sales reps from CT, Phoenix and Cyle, only Phoenix said its possible on the first call, then on the second call when I asked again he wasn't sure. Cyle on the other hand believed it was not possible from the start. So yeah, they should probably get an update.

Ps. I dont even have my fibre login details yet...

You wont loose your data dude.

IspAfrika : if the Telkom Techie comes and installs the Telkom fibre and they activate the ONT, he says PVT router(instead of provided), then you can dail any DSL account.(his words)

I have a fibre line with the 400gb deal for 485.

works at fullspeed.

Huzzah !

Out of interest would the 12am to 6am free data still apply on Vox if you used their fat pipe account on telkom FTTH.Not going to ask a Vox rep as they cant answer question number one ,never mind my second question.

I'll let you know once my ISPAfrika line is in ;)

Indeed the midnight to 6am data is free on fatpipe via Telkom FTTH.

Out of interest, and because my area will be covered by Telkom FTTH soon, what speed of fibre line do you have? Also, what is the cost of the line (I assume you are only renting the line, and the data you get from Vox)?

The Telkom FTTH products use the existing IPC infrastructure. There is no reason why the existing Fatpipe product suite won't work over this, and I know of no limitation in this regard.
