VPN and netsend

We have three branches in the Eastern Cape connected via VPN.

I setup fomine netsend on each computer so users can communicate with each other.
It has saved money and time.

Why can I ping another site via the vpn yet the netsend program cant send a message over the VPN?

Routing problem, do I need to open a port?

Nope.

"fomine netsend" is based on the Windows Messenger service..
On XP (and later) this service is disabled if you have service pack 2 (or later) installed.

enable the "messenger service" on your workstations & netsend should work.

no problen man...
Pidgin IM works lekker with it... there are plenty plugins on both... eg file tranfer, group chat , u get the idea.
you will have port issues if you go this route, port 5222, so yarr, drop me a an IM or email if u need some help.
