VPN lite & No internet question

Hi,

I've got a client with a Billion 400G modem on a remote site. They are running the VPN lite service from Telkom.

Is it possible to only initiate the VPN connection, without having to initiate the internet connection?

Client wants the remote site to connect to a machine on the main site, but don't want the remote site on the internet.

The VPN installation CD asks for both internet and VPN site details, and doing it manually on the router never seem to work.

Any ideas / feedback would be appreciated.

You only need the VPN lite account details, if you don't select the internet account then it won't initiate it. This is all while using the VPNLITE software provided by Telkom.

Will the remote site not get internet through the VPN if the main site has internet access? Or are they clever enough to block it?

You want the remote site to leech off the internet from the main site

We did that, it is not easy but can be done. What firewall solution do you have at the main site? It requires a lot of routing but can be done

Don't want the remote side to leach at all. They need to get onto the server on the main site (Telnet), and that's it. Firewall on main site is the bigger Telkom Billion VGT810 or something router.

Try eleNet from elephantvpn, you can configure the firewall for your virtual network
and therefore control what is available to the internet.
