VPN over 3G

I would be careful using the unrestricted APN. We just got a bill of R13K on the sim with unrestricted apn enabled.

People have clocked up more than that on internet APN as well. It has more to do with the person driving the machine than the APN you use.

But yes if your machine is unprotected you do place yourself at more risk of compromise when using the unrestricted APN.

Solved the issue with VodaManage though. We will continue to use unrestricted APN is some of our solutions.

Vodacom 3g, is it possible to know who made a change on the SIM's profile? (for example, which Vodacom person enabled unrestricted apn on a SIM). Does your system keep thread of your users administrating the SIMs?

Thanks....

I know it works on "unrestricted" but not on "internet".

Will work with any APN, i.e. not APN related at all.

The APN assigns the IP to the device. The device will then publish this IP (irrespective of who assigned it) on DynDNS.

If DynDNS is not being updated it's a function of the update process, most likely a configuration error on the device, for example a wrong password or a DynDNS account that expired.

wow you guys are really a help oh my gos never thought you would reply :) :) :) :)

If the APN = internet then you get a private non Routable Ip. Why would you even want to update youre DYNDNS with a Ip that is not Routable?? Also tested internet APN with no-ip and DYNDNS but no luck.

When did you last test this? The 'internet' APN has been handing out public IP for a number of months already. As vodacom3g mentioned... NAT as been scrapped on the Vodacom data network.
