I see my Expessvpn renewal is due in few months at 116.95 usd for one year.

Basic usage includes 5 devices, some torrents, hbo, vevo, youtube.

Previously had NordVPN and AirVPN before that. So far ExpressVPN has been the most stable and unblocky.

Sh*tshark lol.
Several well-known VPN providers - including Surfshark, TurboVPN and VyprVPN - are among six brands called out for a risky practice that potentially undermines user security.

As part of its Deceptor programme, security research firm AppEsteem found that providers’ apps install a trusted root certificate authority (CA) cert on users’ devices and some providers even fail to obtain users’ consent for doing so.

Been a user of Windscribe for about 5 years, they're great. Plenty of features, even for small time users their free 10 GB per month option is the best I could see.

We can play tit-for-tat for just about every recommendation that comes up - every service has it's pros and cons and for the most part Surfshark is "ok" for my purposes which is why I recommended it. Is it the best service ever? No, but it's cost effective enough and does what it's meant to do.

I don't anticipate that I will be targeted in a cyber attack in my private capacity any time soon, but if I do, I doubt it will be because of Surfshark's certificate administration.

Somehow Surfshark is still rated quite high in most online comparisons and apprently the cert issue has been addressed last year already.

Who's online review to "trust". Most if not all of them say ExpressVPN, PIA, Ghost or UltraVPN is the best. Always.
Yeah they're the ones that pay the most.

They fixed that within 4 weeks whereas Sh*tshark still has the flaw.
A seizure of a single server will result in the attacker’s ability to impersonate any other server Surfshark operates. They too claim that the VPN servers are now all RAM based. Can this be proven to be implemented correctly, or at all? Nope. Can it be proven that their OpenVPN implementation is insecure? Yup.

Because we do not use it, and therefore cannot in all fairness recommend it.
Very.... fair.

Well I would recommend it. Have tried others but kept coming back to Proton at the end of the day for most of my needs.

VPN unlimited aka KeepSolid for the best lifetime VPN I've had (I have 2x 5 user accounts and I've had them for 5+ years at this point).

In the middle we've got Ivacy for some cool features like NAT, portfwarding.

Then last, cheap and cheerful = fastestVPN.

All grabbed as Lifetime deals off stack social - all have lasted for years.

Another lifetime I'm currently considering:

Had a look at it, and free version did not have any exit points that where useful, so skipped it.

Just a heads up on Ivacy.

The China-aligned APT (advanced persistent threat) group known as 'Bronze Starlight' was seen targeting the Southeast Asian gambling industry with malware signed using a valid certificate used by the Ivacy VPN provider.

Might as well mention the Opera browser's built-in free VPN as a backup - fair when needed but too slow unless it's weekday mornings. and doubt secure enough.
