VPS - Who are any good?

I am looking for a VPS/Cloud provider that can actually keep there VPS's live.

I am not interested in any of these companies any more.
AXXESS, Afrihost or MWEB. Dont bother asking why not. I am sure there are enough discussions about their lack of knowledge and support that does not even exist after 4PM.

Who can you recommend that also has the ability to give backup space or a SAN storage with adequate redundancy?
SSD speed would be favourable.

I have my own dedicated server with Hetzner SA, and it works great, but cannot manage that efficiently any more.

Do they have to be locally hosted?
If not, look at RamNode.

Also, what management issues are you having with your dedi?

I have been in the hosting business for 10+years, and local is better, especially when it comes to latency and international issues, so yes. local.

No management issues with the dedicated, but the 50GB backup space that Hetzner give is just not worth it. What is supposed to be backed up there if you have a few 100GB's of data ?

I've got 9 instances with RamNode, hosted in NL and don't see any issues. Granted latency is about 140ms as opposed to local latency - are the apps you're running so reliant on latency though?

EliteHost seems to have a good rep around these parts, perhaps check them out?

List the specs that you need and what is going to be hosted on it. If latency does not matter go for an Amazon ec2 instance.

have you looked at host1plus..? my vps in the sa datacenter has had zero issues other then the ones i made, which i fixed easily via their console in the customer area..

Try a company called Cipherwave, we host loads of VMs with them with no issues.

There are 1,000 ways to answer this question. If you can, thinking of price here, get a self managed dedicated server (CentOS) with Hetzner because they are the cheapest and most reliable, load it up with what every you need and use S3FS Fuse to mount an AWS S3 bucket for backups.. Boom, there is your local hosting with international back prices and performance. There are loads of ways to do it though.
