So looking at the latest Game leaflet, I see that they are offering their own branded VR headset with every contract purchased. Got me thinking that a cheaper one shouldn't cost too much if Game are giving them away with even a R99/month contract.

Turns out there are quite a few cheaper options, such as the one below:

Does anyone have any experience with these sort of headsets? I guess that you can't expect Samsung quality experience, but would it be decent enough for the price? Also, does it matter which phone is used (Note 4 in this case)?

Might just get one to try out anyway, but eager to hear if anyone else has taken the plunge with one of these cheapies.

Edit: I'd obviously look for local stock if I decided to go ahead with it. Not too keen to place too much trust in our beloved SAPO.

Was also thinking the same recently. I saw an article last week somewhere (think it was mybb) where they mentioned a few cheaper options from various suppliers. Would be interested to know how they compare to the more well known brands. Prices ranged from R199 for the google cardboard to R2000. In between there were like R599 and R799 units.

If you have a PC. That's the one to wait for IMHO. June/July (timed well with next gen gfx card release date) > crystal cove.

Devkits are $300, but they have been saying they want to launch @ $200 so... Somewhere between that and that.

Might turn out to be a lemon, but it looks good on paper. I expect they will launch world-wide since it is being pushed by Razer.
