Vuma Reach Phoenix Thread

Ping. Since that was the topic on last few posts..

I'm actually on 55mb plan but they have a different offering. 55mb international, 55mb peered and 55mb local.. Like a double offering on 1 plan..

Is the 40mb from Vuma still at R399?
Ping is relative to your location which is very close to riverhorse valley.

Don't know, I know reach is really cheap. I'm on metrofibre and paying R900 for 50mb.

This what I find on AH site:

Guys contacted me today finally for my parents fiber install in Chatsworth. Vuma Reach 40Mb/10Mb @ R529 with Afrihost. Not such a bad deal but my dad streams in 4k or sometimes 8k on a single device - will a 40Mb down handle this?

I asked if they can combine 3x 40Mb lines for 3x the price but they were not sure.

He must be the only guy in Durban streaming 8k. Netflix says 25mbps is enough for 4k.

I have a 40mb Pure DSL connection right now and it will definitely be enough as I stream 4k while doing a variety of other things without any buffering etc. Not to mention it will be more reliable with fibre. I'll also have to agree that there won't be many things to watch in 8k as I barely find much to watch on Netflix in 4k.

We are currently getting 80megs right now for the price of a 40meg. Vuma is doing research for a speed up

He has an bigass 8k TV so he said he needs 8k streaming... I think 40Mb will suffice though.
There's FOKOL 8K content for tv atm... the tv he has will upscale to 8k most probably...4k media is already scarce...

There's not even a 8k player on the market really, so his 8k tv is just an e-peen at the moment

It depends which Vuma. Trenched/Aerial or Reach?

Trenched/Aerial = 1gbps
Reach = 40mbps (now 80)
Hi, do you any articles stating Vuma reach are trialing 80mb packages. Can’t seem to find any articles. Don’t want to get my hopes up for nothing?

I only heard about it from this thread.

Go back a few pages. We all posted our upgraded speeds. Afrinatic confirmed it as well.

The trial ends in March which is when Vuma might make it permanent or a new package

Great stuff. Looks like I'll be getting 80/10 speeds for R500 odd from Afrihost/Vuma Reach then. Let's hope they make it permanent.
