Vumatel/Afrihost Fibre Move

I am moving end of this month and have to move my Fibre too. But with Afrihost I have to cancel the current account and start a new one. So Im wondering if there is a better option available than Vumatel/Afrihost Fibre seeing as Im cancelling the current service anyway.

I currently have the 10Mbps Up/Down @ R 749.00.

You're best bet is to see what fibre providers are available at your new place and take it from there. Not often you will have the choice of more than 1.

If there is an existing installation on the new address then your get a migration done. If there is no installation at all that will unfortunately mean the Vumatel Install fee applies.

Yeah there is an existing connection and they are with Vumatel. But Id like them to replace the CPE as its really old looking and they complained about slow speeds on that Line.

Unlikely to be an ONT/CPE issue. As long as Optic levels are good and it has 1Gbps ethernet is will be fine. Since there is an existing installation on that address and the ONT/CPE is faulty we can always log a fault with Vumatel. We will not be able to action a new install for the address.

I think let's try the Migrate in option first then take it from there if you are having issues? This wil also save you the installation fee which is quite a bit.

New question, I see many different ISPs offer Vumatel Fibre.

Does it make any difference to the Connection and service there of if you choose a specific ISP? or does this only really affect the after sales support channels?

Yes - a big difference. Vumatel is an open access fibre provider, and each ISP delivers their own internet over that network. Think of Vumatel as the pipes and the ISPs as the water in the pipes. Every ISP has their own water source, filters, mix of additives etc - ie, different upstreams and peering, different network designs, network management, bandwidth management, latencies to different destinations and more. And finally, after sales service and support..

Okay so im currently checking out two, Afrihost and Accelerit. I am currently with Afrihost but Someone advised me to check out Accelerit and I like their pricing.

Any have experience with Accelerit, how is the service and connection?

Ive tried going through the website (on PC) but its just not that user friendly, Also when I select the packacage I want and procceed to checkout then it changes the package to a slower upload speed and I cant change it back. Im not too keen on them due to this already.
With that said the site looks good and everything, its just my Full of crapness thats stopping me.
