Made the big mistake of thinking fibre is the way to go.
Cancelled my 20 meg line with Telkom and applied for a 20meg line with Vumatel.
Never had a days trouble with the Telkom line.

Wow what a unprofessional bunch of people from getting the install address wrong after a number of calls and mails to them to rectify the address.
And they still went to the wrong address.
Fibre installed and they walked away with no feedback.
After many mails and calls it would appear there is a fault somewhere and they cant get to it until they have cleared the back log.
Seems their network is broken all over the place.
Only option is to re-apply or have my old line re-instated as Vumatel cant tell me if they will sort out their network in a weeks time or a month.
Its been 2 weeks now...and still no joy.

Checking on HelloPeter the complaits logged about Vumatel should say something.

Rant over.

Has anyone else had a unpleasant experience dealing with Vumatel?

Why cancel Telkom line before having a stable fibre solution?

Thanks for the headsup, will steer clear of them

You're mad.
Vumatel is the best ftth provider out there imho.
Hardly a days trouble in almost a year.

You been lucky so far.
Hope nothing goes wrong later on.
Their service and turn around time, "according to my experience" is shocking.

Stuipd of me i know, cancelling too soon, maybe too much faith that things wont go pear shape.:D

You can escalate via your ISP, we have more weight around these kinds of things with the operators considering we pay them.

Was busy signing up with cell C.
They tried with emails and calls to Vumatel.

Vumatel basically gave them the middle finger.

Lesson learnt, Knowing now what i have experienced and if a fault gets logged later on u can expect a few weeks of no service on the Vumatel network.

For interest's sake, which area are you in? They are doing a lot of pre-installs, where they run the fibre into your house before the fibre is lit in the suburb. They then wait for the civils and links in the road to be completed, before you can go live. Is this not what is going on? The civils might be delayed, or something... I doubt it's the network that is broken. Lack of communication is weird.

Area called Risidale next to Northcliff.
Had fibre installed from the street into the complex where i live 7 months ago.
It turns out that some of the cables or strands are bent.
It`s been fixed on my line just yesterday so busy signing up.
Have decided to go with cell C...

The various departments within Vumatel were very quick to shunt you from one department to the next.
Eventually once you have made a full loop you realize that its useless and you give up.
Hate to think what is going to happen when a fault is registered.
We live in hope.

TBH, all line faults in our area has been fixed within a couple of hours from it happening, which was not often, longest I have been without internet was 3 hours.

Yeah, over here they sort things out quickly and the communication seems to be good.
