Is Vumatel the worst fibre rollout company or not?
So in my area we, according to the fibre map before it was segmented we had roughly 140% interest in my area. So last year rollout started, however Vumatel stopped halfway through my suburb and when questioned about it, they say interest was concentrated in particular areas and other areas did not show enough interest.
This is absolute bullsht and a scam for business. I'm 100% sure that rolling out fibre this way destroys most interest from other fibre rollout companies and now we're held hostage until they eventually get to our section. Conveniently, recently the map for fibre coverage was segmented in my area whereas in the past it was one area, now it is divided into four.
They even lied to us in the town hall meeting about this, never did they mention this, all they said was that they'll start in area X and as they get approval, they'll move on to the other areas and "will be done roughly around end May".
For starters, my segment is mostly retired people that use basic internet access, so they have no interest or knowledge of fibre and how it will be cheaper for them. Luckily though, interest has reached 104%, but no feedback from Vuma regarding any plans on further rollout. Despicable really.
As soon as a different company is rolling out, I'm definitely getting rid of Vumatel, if I even get fibre.
