Vumatel Outage Vaaltriangle

I went to the site where this mess took place. They have got a massive problem. The armouring of the fibre cable had to be removed during this repair process , fair enough , but now it just looks like they spliced the entire lot and took insulation tape and covered the entire mess. No steel armouring that went back - imagine when you pile that sand/ground , back , ontop of it. The glass tubes inside that fibre is going to break and put us back to square one. Going to show our Fibre specialist @ work the pictures tomorrow (our mpy makes fibre cables in irony! , just not for vumatel) .
I want to see.

Are they going to fix it, break it or do nothing today, place your bets.

Do nothing and insist there isn't an issue was the winner.

Edit: seems it was fixed at ~22:20.

Where in the Vaal are you?

Oh, I see you are using MWEB. I was with them for a long time (ADSL days), but after constant outage after outage after outage, I ditched them and started using VOX. They just could not resolve ongoing issues.

Hi Drifter - Sasolburg.
3 Possible scenarios.
1- Cable being cut
2- Equipment outage
3- Random vandalism at the previous joint location. It was a VERY poor repair of cable.

As for M-WEB woes , i agree. Just need to push until September , then my contract is m2m. Can jump ship anytime then.

I'm done, I'm moving over to Openserve.

I ordered with Afrihost, 20 minutes later Openserve calls to confirm if someone is home and they're coming now between 12:00 and 14:00.

I'm getting a whole new fibre installation faster than Vumatel confirms an outage or Vox replies to customers.

Is there an ISP with Vumatel that can give you good "service" or is it all down to Vumatel being slow and lazy ?
Which ISPS can you guys recommend on both sides of the FTTH provider's side (Vumatel and Openserve)?

No matter which ISP you're with, if the fibre goes down it's down.

If your part of Sasolburg is in a double coverage Openserve and Vumatel area I'd recommend you move over to Openserve like I'm busy doing now.

I won't really consider anyone other than Afrihost or Cool Ideas as an ISP, I chose Afrihost because of the better router they provide.

Vumatel has been very bad in our area the last few days. My connection drops for no reason, a couple of times a day. A few seconds at a time, but it's enough to cause all my WiFi devices to lose internet connection.

It's a Royal PIA.
