Vumatel - Raycore flashing blue power light

I signed up with Vumatel/RocketNet back in August, but since I expected things will take a while I took the Rain uncapped option to cover me for 3 months.

Told them it's not urgent, but need everything up and running by the 6th of November at the latest when my uncapped LTE ends.

Everything is installed and hooked up, and I've got my PPPoE credentials, but the CPE doesn't seem to be as eager.

---

The blue power light on the Raycore is blinking.

It goes through the power up sequence and LAN1 is lit for the router.

I don't see the PPPoE from the router, and the FX is dead.

---

Is there anything further I can check from my side, or do I have to chase Vumatel to get it sorted?

I mentioned this to Rocketnet before they sent the router out, but assumed it might be because the line wasn't activated directly after being installed.

I'm pretty sure it did go solid when it was installed. Although it moered off the wall not too long after being installed as well...

Even without a data account, the FX light should be lit with intermittent blinking (that’s my experience).

Did the installer not check? They have to confirm connectivity before you get your line number, which I assume you have.

Probably need Vumatel to confirm that you’re still visible otherwise the box might be dead from when it got hit.

I don't know how hard it fell when the glue came loose, but it's only about plug height off the floor so hopefully that didn't kill it.

Report this to your ISP, they will confirm that it is down (they can see the status of your CPE through an online portal) and raise a ticket with Vumatel if it's in fact down.. Vumatel trenched maintenance teams are usually very quick to respond to line faults.

Wait. Why do you have PPPOE for the Raycore device? This is a L3 DHCP service, PPPOE won't work. Once your FX light comes on, change your router settings to DHCP, not PPPOE - you should connect automatically.

Rocketnet sends a router and supplies PPPoE credentials. I'm sure the Raycore can run DHCP, but I don't think they set it up like that. Would only know once the FX goes solid.

Get them to submit the fault ticket for you if you haven’t yet- it’s a lot quicker as they have a ticketing portal they use.

As soon as you have that FX stabilised, give it a shot on DHCP first.

Confirmed - Raycore directly connects.
No reason to have the PPPoE credentials, and no PPPoE available.

My line was borked - Area manager said it was the outside line, not sure if the technicians fixed anything there, but they came back with a "This should work now".

And then it didn't, and they noticed the connector inside was also borked.
That was replaced as well, and the FX came online.

Log into shop.vumatel.co.za (which doesn't seem to use same credentials as sp.vumatel.co.za?) and pick package.
Then contact ISP (RocketNet) and ask them to activate. (I used website chat)

Router reboot later, and I'm online :)
