Why does Vumatel manage to get away with not dropping their prices and also talking about increasing their subscription price. They have us by the short and curlies knowing that to use another isp will take about a month and they are the only service provider in most urban areas.
Please do an article on them and their arrogant attitude. They pee me off big time!!!!

Moving ISPs on Vumatel you have to pay an activation fee.

I see most charge the activation fee now, and very few free activations through the different ISPs.

Cancelled RocketNet, with the idea of maybe moving to Mind The Speed, but they too charge an activation fee now.

So will give CellC Home Connecta Flexi LTE a go.

Tired of being kept captive within the Vumatel system.

Hi @joshuatree All ISP's gets charged an activation fee by Vumatel, regardless of the package that is chosen.

Some ISP's choose to absorb these costs and should the customer cancel within a certain time period then they claw it back from their subscribers to recover these fees. Sometimes the FNO have specific promos running to reduce these fees completely, but they are mostly tied into some clawback clause to ensure that the customer is retained.

Just be sure you are aware of all the hidden costs when things are free or appear to be free. Check the clawback period 6 months, 12 months, 24 months if any at all, know the cancellation notice period and know if the router that you have received from the provider is Free to Use or will you be billed for the router if not returned.

We do hope that we can be of assistance to you again in the future.

Honestly **** vumatel. Fiber has been down since 3 in the morning in the south.

I moved to mind the speed without activation fee however there is a clawback of 6 months

Seriously considering getting Openserve to install Fibre and then canceling my Vuma line
It will cost me R0 for the instalation and then I would pay R30 more per month for double the download speed and 10 times my current upload speed
Or I could pay R150 less for same download speed and 5 times the upload speed

I am seriously considering it but do not really want to support Openserve which is only reason I have not done it yet

Vumatel is the only infrastructure provider in my suburb, I have no options. It really pees me off. I can’t understand why none of the technical publications like My Broadband haven’t taken it up with Vumatel. GRRR!!!
