Hi All

We have just obtained enough interest to get them into our hood, any feedback on how long it takes for a typical installation and quality of the providers (ISP's) thereafter would be great?

Our hood is Vredehoek.

Regards

Project length will depend on the size and complexity.
Providers : Crystal Web. That is all.

Thanks Sinbad, I understand that it is like asking how long is a piece of string. But wondered if people know on average like 6 months or so. So I also take from your post is that crystal web is the only good ISP, is this correct?

Cool ideas is good too, but crystal Web is superb.
The others are ok. Those two stand out.
6 months is about par for a medium suburb but it goes in phases. Some houses will be turned on sooner than others.

Depends on how quickly wayleaves are obtained, and also, if it is rainy weather or not.

you can estimate about 6 months, but can take a bit longer if the suburb us bigger.

Only ISP's I would consider is Cool Ideas and Crystal Web

6 months is a fair estimate. Our construction was to start in February but only started in May. End of June now and they have finished construction but still building their POP and then all need to build their backhaul to their data centre.

Another 3 weeks before they will begin installation and then another few weeks to get through the home installations. That's going to take us into August. One year since we began talks.

When they say 6 weeks, don't believe them. So much over promise, so much under delivery.

This was mostly due to the unexpected issues in Blairegowrie, other they have been spot on up until that happened.

LOL that was mostly due to the municipality/City power having laid down undocumented power lines and then approved vumatel to trench straight over them.

Usually the delays, as current in our neighborhood, the delay is not Vumatel but often the JRA or municipality of the area.

Blairgowrie delay is more than just JRA. There was a lot that happened in there.

People complained about the color of tar not matching, etc. Result, Vuma slows down the process to make sure more people are happy, then the locations of the VDN gets approved, and the place, and the person has a problem with the contract all of a sudden.

In the end, they slowed down due to complaints quite significantly, and now people are upset because it is slow

Our deployment was not in Blairgowrie. We in Gallo Manor /Morningside Manor.

Yeap but it has a knock on affect, when one area puts them behind it affects other areas deployments as well.

Ditto for our area. Vuma still has my full support for their inclusive approach
