Unfortunately if they are banned it's going to be interpreted as "racist" and "anti African" blah blah and you run the risk of riots and general **** stirring :o

It simply has to be banned. It is ridiculous and adds nothing to the game. African spirit my arse.

I'll repeat myself, the vuvuzela was not as bad on SABC1 as on SS3, those responsible for the international/SS3 feed were caught off guard and need to plan ahead for future matches, the vuvuzela is new to them.

Watching the news today so far and have not seen a complaint yet, forums on the net do not represent the average fan, forums cater to a group who always have something to complain about.

That's why I say the vuvuzela is going global! watch this space :D after the rustenberg game it is vuvuzela or bust for me I love it.
Game who'd suck without it now. :p

No need to ban, just limit their sizes which in turn limits the noise and brand them, say only FIFA branded ones are allowed. VERY simple thing to do.

Why would the vuvuzela be new to supersport?

lol I love that logic..

So kicking a ball around a court for 90 mins without using your hand is very practical while making a noise while doing it is not? :p

it is a game people ought to have fun, the vuvuzella is not the problem bad sound engineering is.

Bad sound engineering? What on earth are you talking about? Just stirring, I would imagine.

/thats not all if you oder NOW you will also get...

/phone now 0800-No-More-VuVu

So you are saying that they are not actually that loud and unnecessary? Well, you are mistaken ;)

If it were cricket then I'd agree but this is soccer noise suits the game, Euro matches are noisy already adding a vuvuzela just makes it better :p

people are making a mountain out of a molehill over this

Bottom line is that I will not be attending any soccer matches here because I dislike the noise that vuvuzela's make, obviously, there are millions and millions who love it.

Banning it would mean that I would attend, but for every one of me, there's 100 of the other.

Simple.

They're both a problem. I switched between both feeds and both annoyed the crap outta me. And one cannot filter the vuvuzela sound out completely - it is a compromise - you either listen to a very low crowd and "effect" noise including the vuvuzela, or you don't.

Although thinking about this a bit more, the vuvuzela's frequency is fairly static, so maybe a filter could cut out some of it without sacrificing much regarding actual crowd noises, which will in a higher frequency range. But that would be one helluva feat to pull off, even for an experienced sound engineer...

For you, maybe. I won't attend a match involving 10000 vuvuzelas. It annoys the bejeezuz out of me. I could barely stand watching a few minutes of the games before having to mute it...

It's going to be the other way around when foreign fans come for the WC, though.
