When they were in the club leagues? :D

Yip. Was the late 90s iirc. Manning Rangers and Stella FC (my original club) had an agreement regarding practice grounds and I landed up making friends with some of the players. Played midfield for them on 3 occasions. Also knew Clive Barker fairly well at that stage...

I hate them. With yesterdays game you struggle to hear the commentary on the game because of the dam noise.

I am worried about ppl overseas not liking it but i do like as it does add the African feel to the game though. Just something different, dont see why such a fuss.

I don't particularly like them, but I have no problem with them myself. I watch Ajax CT from time to time and they're great for providing atmosphere at matches where the stadium is half empty. The thing is, South Africa doesn't seem to have a culture of singing at games they way they do in other countries, and vuvuzelas have filled that gap here. It's South African football culture, and I think banning them would be completely the wrong thing to do.

I can live with or without them.

I cant stand the things, it produces sounds that irritate the living daylights out of me. So my vote was Hate Them

The worst thing is that they now have these "mini" vuvuzela things that sound like a beached whale giving birth to triplets if you blow the things. It's crazy because those trumpets are TINY but boy oh boy do they screech. :(

If you guys don't like them and you've at least been exposed to them for some time now, then foreign soccer supporters will absolutely hate them, which is not a good thing since some/most of them won't bother coming to SA.

I grew up with them so I love them, I'm considering buying my own. And...... my hearing is still perfect :D................. I think................

Vuvuzelas are rooted in African history as people would blow on a kudu horn to call villagers to a meeting. Adding to the appeal is the African folklore that "a baboon is killed by a lot of noise", so the last quarter of a game sees even more frantic blowing of vuvuzelas as supporters try to "kill off" their opponents
-wiki

there you have it; kill them off :D

lol the sabc commentator(zulu?) is far more distributive, he's drowns out the vuvuzela alone :D

the vuvuzelas are gonna take off I say, like most things it's an acquired taste, once people get that hit it's over :D

I don't get what the big deal is though, might as well ban air horns.... they're just as annoying.
