So I've still not got my visual voicemail working. And I really want it to work, as I HATE listening to voicemail in sequence. I just want to get to the important stuff and nuke the rest...

I 'applied' for the service by sending 'VVM ON' to 123 before it even launched. Sure enough, I got the VVM screen installed, as opposed to the normal voicemail screen in the dialler. But whenever I tried to record a greeting, it said that it was unable to connect to the service.

I restarted my phone, I left myself a voice message, etc. Nothing. Then I cancelled the service and tried it again. Every time I get the confirmation SMSes from Vodacom, and I get the screen - but the service doesn't work.

I even phone 111 for help, but at that stage they told me (af 45 minutes on the line!) that the service hadn't been launched officially, and they couldn't help.

Well, I've just danced the whole jig again, and still no dice. So before I phoned Vodacom again, I thought I'd ask for help from the cleverest people in the known universe. You.

Mine had this problem, all i did was activate the iphone.za APN and then it worked. Also make sure you have internet connection where you are trying to connect cause sometime i get the 3G sign but cant connect.

Thanks for the advice Naza05, but I've been on the iphone.vodacom.za APN for a long time now - use it often for browsing, etc.

So I finally called 155 again today, and after more than an hour on the line, the agent decided to 'escalate' my problem. I now have a reference number and a promise that someone smarter that him will call me in 48 hours max. We live in hope.

Have you got any of the other VM service in place like sms voicemail, exec mailbox etc as i have heard that these can cause an interference.

Cancel these services if you have them and allow 24hrs for them to update as canx and then try again...
