VW EOS

do you want a 4seater or a convertible? Or do u want your cake and eat it too? So you're looking for soft convertibles? ie girly Opel tigra, Peogeot CC, EOS all girly  Wouldnt a coupe be a 4seater and a bit more manly, TT coupe?

Ah but the EOS is a 4 seater!

sort of, children will fit in the back but adults that another story.. my parents back in SA have just got the bm 330ci and i can't fit in the back unless i move the seat right forward. and im 6.3" if its just you i suggest a 2 seater. there more sportier and handle better than 4 seater cabs..

Are we talking about the same car? Previously it was referred to as a Passat without roof. That seats 4 comfortably.

yes you could call it a passat with no roof, but remember you need to put that roof some were when its down. and by them doing that its kind of cuts the rear seats space a bit, to make room for folding roof this happens in mostly in all 4 seater convertibles. only car i heard thats got good space in the rear is the BMW 1 series convertible, because it uses the traditional soft-top not the folding metal roof.

The EOS seems good in terms of equipment fitted, besides normal A/C etc it also has a microwave intrusion detector that works in both closed and open modes of the roof.

I still believe you can do better with R275K honestly. You can get a Honda Accord, Audi A4, Merc C-class, even Beamer 3 Series.... Then again, you must buy the car you like.

Yes probably but just fancied the idea of a convertible with hardtop and sunroof. New car not really a requirement was just the change of style that attracte me to the EOS.

I have to admit, calling the Passat a POC was probably a bit strong, but it had issues that VW couldn't (wouldn't ?) sort out.
- Steering rack replaced 3 times due to groaning in cold whether (a recall was issued in North America to cover this, the local guys wasn't even aware of this, replaced with the same defective part 3 times, and then tried to solve the issue with GREASE, serious!)
- Going from 1st to 2nd had to be timed absolutely bloody perfect in terms of engine RPM and the speed at which the gearlever was shifted, else the gears woulnd't mesh properly and it would either grind or not engage at all. "Normal", according to VW.
- Low quality interior meterials (a*** cheap hard plastic bits) prone to scuffing and rattling
- Paid RK245 new in Feb 07, VW trade offers rnaged from RK120 to RK140 trade in Sept 08, with 18,000km on the clock. Honda gave me RK186. When a manufacturer undervalues their own cars by this much, it has to make you think.

Well, that is what VWs do. The problem is thesedays that are very over priced and this leads to increased levels of "perceived quality". Trust me, a VWs interior begins to rattle pretty much the same time as that of an Opel or a Toyota. Sometimes sooner.

Also, if you read motoring magazines like CAR regularly you will see that VW, French cars and Tata get the most complaints. Fair enough VW sells a lot of cars, but still, the attitude VWSA has towards their customers are really crap and their products are not that much better either, I have grown up with a few of them so I know how a VW can let you down.

11 VWs no problems - touch wood!

This would be 3rd VW. Wife had Citigolf, I had Beetle in 1970's.

Theres isnt a 4 seater convertible that can compare in this price range.
Your options are limited and apart from BMW 3 series and maybe Audi A4 cabrio, VW is your next best option.

I'd rather buy an MG that is no longer in production than a VW :o

Nice! Well assuming you are buying it as a fun car I hope it gives you fun.
Personally I can think of many other makes of convertibles that are a lot more fun.

Good luck and enjoy.
