They should not sell it without all that stuff standard. It doesn't make sense in this day and age. The citi needs to be replaced asap, but not with the same crap

Because it uses the modern Polo platform underneath and will have a 3-4 star safety rating.

Suck ass like any VW. Good lord how can one company have such lazy designers. Probably their Nazi roots or something.

BUT - I love this car because it is what the SHYTI golf should be. If VWSA brings the Gol in and replaces the Shyti with it (like Toyota did with the Tazz/Yaris) then I can finally say VWSA did SOMETHING right.

And I am hoping they do... The Gol is nice (for a VW) and I have been eyeing it since they started to make them from Brazil and Mexico.

Prices do not include air-conditioning, audio system, power steering (available as a regular feature only for the Power), airbags, ABS, onboard computer or power windows. All these items have to be ordered, what increases final prices for all versions.

They must be smoking their socks if they think that they can bring that here, and sell it without those options, when their's cars here with those options as standard, and much cheaper. Then again, some people will buy it because it's VW.

So basically, its a modern citi golf with no extras. These prices are in Brazil, converted to Euro's. So it will be cheaper in SA. But as a comparison, the 1litre basic model costs R153 309 in Brazil!

VW stops making one of the most popular cars in Brazil, the Gol — not to be confused with the Golf

Volkswagen is ending production of its Brazilian hatchback, the Volkswagen Gol. After its historic run of over 40 years, the Volkswagen Gol will bid farewell to Brazil with a limited edition model, as Autocosmos reports. This softens the blow somewhat, but I’ll mourn the little hatch either way. And I’d be remiss if I didn’t do it like this, courtesy of the great Andrés Cantor: Goool!

The VW Gol was the best-selling car in Brazil for 27 years in a row, from 1987 to 2013. It was also the most produced car in Latin America, with nearly 9 million models made throughout Brazil and Argentina. Despite strong sales through 2021, Volkswagen considered halting production and confirmed it for 2022.

The Gol’s death wasn’t exactly peaceful; it was ousted from Latin America due to lack of safety. I’m getting Nissan Tsuru flashbacks. Like the Tsuru, the Gol could not keep up with market creep that left it outmoded and unsafe compared to many other cars.
