FRC or Revo for MK5 GTi's, end of story. Chipping is not an issue with warranty because they will flash your original ECU map before a service and then put the new map back afterwards. With Revo you can buy their SPS (serial port switch) unit so you can switch between maps when you need to.

but what happens if your turbo blows up? i've wanted to FRC my 2.0TDI for so long now, just had my 60k service and the only thing holding me back is not knowing what will happen should the turbo go. will FRC/Revo be able to flash the original map in that case, so that the turbo can be replaced under warranty?

Technically your warranty would be shot, but most dealers will turn a blind eye because replacing the turbo would still bring them some $$$s. This is why it is important to have a good relationship with your dealership of choice... phone your regular workshop manager (NOT the advisor manning the phone & handling the bookings) and ask the question as to what they would do. Try to hide it from them at your own peril.

And as for flashing back to stock - they should be able to, as long as you can still drive the car there to have it done. ;)
