VW GOLF Chico 1.3L 1995 Model GIVING CONSTANT ISSUES, HELP PLEASE

So my wife's car, has been the spawn of hell for both of us. This car has been in her family for years and years. Now the speedometer says the car has done 250 000KM but I have the sneaky suspicion that she has rolled over above 1mil KM?

This car has had so many issues, battery, exhaust (needs to be changed again), my wife or back then fiance' always took it too idiots and as a result its running like a piece of trash.

Where do I take it to, who will give me a honest answer without trying to scam me. I am in Somerset West-Cape Town

I've owned lots of VW's over the years and I always took them to Jack's Service Centre - small operation and they only work on VW's. The owner, Jack is super passionate about his job, and always goes into alotta detail explaining exactly what's wrong and what needs to be done etc... Might be a bit out of the way for you though, it's in the city.

Theres a guy that works on VW's in strand, Willie's service centre.
He is quite good, worked at VW dealer once upon a time.

My wife took her car to him for a quote. We are still waiting two weeks later for a quote but no one bothers!

Mette's Auto Electrical and Mechanical in Stellenbosch are very good and even though they can take a little longer and cost a little more you know the service will be excellent. The owner is a German guy and he is very good with VWs and Opels.
