Hi guys,

Does anyone else know that in order for the VW Maintenance/Service plan to be upheld you HAVE to have your car serviced every year, regardless of the mileage? They're telling me I've voided my service plan and must pay full price because I didn't take the car in a year ago even though I never clocked the 15000km mileage.

Now, I take full responsibility if this is indeed common knowledge and I apologise in advance, but if it's not then I feel like they must show me some contract or detailed terms. I've hunted all over VW's site to find this fine print with no success.

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your time.

All T&C's on every maintenance or service plan I've ever seen states you must comply with the recommended service schedule to maintain the plan. When u look at the schedule every one I have ever looked at specifies X amount of KM's OR annually (whichever comes first), so I'm afraid you are pretty much out of luck.

Check out your service book, alternatively the plan documentation you got with your car.

Common knowledge
Service intervals are usually every 15k kms or every 12 months, whichever comes first. This will also be stated somewhere in the owners manual

That is the important part, whichever comes first. Your service/maintanance plan will now be null and void, thats going to suck for you and your resale value, especially if you missed a service by a year.

Okay cool. Thanks guys. I bought it second hand and was never informed by anyone. My bad. Just annoyed, if I'd known I would've taken it, what with it being free and all. Anyways, such is life.

What Archer said

I bought a second hand Golf recently. Luckily it was serviced at 56k which was a 1 year anniversary by the previous owner. My next service is @ 71k.
So maintenance plan intact. Just got new brakes and wipers, paid by motorplan. When my car goes in for service, about 5 weeks from now, they will remove the gearbox, replace all bearings and possibly replace the clutch after inspection. They will also service/replace master and slave cylinder for the clutch.

So Motorplan FTW.

I wouldnt mind having an oil change every 10 000km, would they object to such a request?

If you do 10k a year, then no objection, they would do it. Else, no, it's 15k or 1 year as per other posts above.
