Hi there,

i remember reading a news article a while ago about VW charging inflated on the road fees, I recently bought a car (beginning of this year) from VW and want to see if i was charged excessive on the road fees im just not sure what i need to look for regarding this so i can confront VW about it because apparently they were told they need to pay the clients back for it

There's already multiple threads about this on this forum, you really should have posted in one of those.

could you please link me to one because i did a search on MyBB, i checked through 6 pages on the CPA, Telecoms Regulation and Consumerism as well as Motoring and Transportation: Cars, Bikes and Planes forum and couldnt find one, which i thought was weird, maybe im just missing it somewhere.

Unless you have seen this on another forum somewhere?

I don't think you understand the story about the fees.

It's not about the cost of the on the road fee, but the adding of the fee to credit agreements by VW Financial Services SA. Did you use VWFS? Was it added to your credit agreement? If so, you should get money back. How did you pay for the on the road fee?

i know its things they add on extra fees on top of on the road fees, according to VWFS they said, fueling, car prep for delivery, car wash, gifts (which i didnt get btw), i get that there are certain costs like licensing registration etc but i just want to know if i am part of this by looking at my contract?

Thats what i want to know. I see on my contract this:

Im not sure what the "Other Extras" are or the "Serv and Delivery" should it be that high?

Why didn't you query this when you bought the car? I think the highest onroad fees I paid was R3k and I thought that was ridiculous.

Ask them for a breakdown, they have to give it to you.

But 6.2K for sevice and delivery on a car? and 7.5k extras? GTFO. The dealer is ripping you off.

It will be anything you didn't ask specifically for but was added to the price of the vehicle.

:wtf:

Did you ask them before buying the car, what the R13,770 is for???? Where is that from? That doesn't look like a standard VW OTP breakdown.

new, Strijdom Park Volkswagen

Did you by any chance take advantage of the Golf upgrade where you buy a Trendline and get a Comfortline?

But yes - I saw it with my wife's Polo earlier this year as well as the new quotations the dealership gave me on a replacement. Bear in mind those are usually quoted ex-VAT, so you end up paying 14% on top of those on the road fees.
