VW Tiguan problem

Idle is fine, rev in neutral is fine. Will take it in tomorrow and let you know the outcome.

6 speed? Sounds like metal on metal sound?
I think its a clutch problem. Release bearing. But they will probably change the whole kit. Warranty should cover it, common with mk6 golf as well.

Happened to my cousin and what you explaining sounds exactly like what she told me. Only when cold, on pull away or reverse.

Yes, that's exactly what it sounds like. It is also the 6 speed.

Sorry I'm only reporting back on the issue now. The earliest booking I could get for the car is tomorrow afternoon, the other branch said only next week.

I will take the car in tomorrow and hopefully hear back from them on thursday.

So I'm picking the car up in a couple of minutes. Apperently it was a loose airbox causing the problem. Now I don't know much about cars but I do know that the shudder and that noise could not have been caused by a loose airbox but anyway.

Will drive it a bit now and report back later.

doesnt sound right

I drove the car home now, no sign of the shudder at all but I suspect its because the car is not cold. I will leave it outside overnight and take it for a drive tomorrow morning at 5. If the problem is still there, what do I tell them when I take it back? The warranty expires in about 6500km and I'm scared this is just some stalling tactic.

You take it back immediately and throw your toys out the cot :p . I tend to agree a loose airbox doesnt make sense. If its something like the clutch they might look to mess you around, how many kms do you do on average per month? Judging from your first post it seems around the 2k mark , does this sound right? You still have 3 months if thats the case, hard for them to stall for that amount of time.

The dealer you're dealing with may be totally inept, but you can set aside that particular fear. A dealership wouldn't wilfully stall a warranty claim; they get paid for the work done under warranty.

Yeah they do but its weird because ive had experiences where they have seemed to be very uninterested in me when i was still under warranty but no so much out of warrranty. Perhaps they get to charge different rates  ?

Thanks, and thanks to all for the help, I really appreciate it.

They do charge the factory a lower rate, but no dealer is in a position to forego warranty work in the hopes that the problem can be delayed until the warranty expires - overheads don't allow for flouting any guaranteed income. Added to that would be the total cluster**** of having to explain to the factory why a given issue was not resolved after multiple visits. It just wouldn't fly.

Making a fuss at 7:30 when the place is full of customers dropping their cars off for a service is sometimes useful.

Yeah i do agree with you.

This , also if the problem does still persist maybe its possible to pick the car up the next morning after it being supposedly fixed so that you can test it out in front of them.

The first question I would ask is how do you go about driving in the morning.

Are you a start the car and immediately drive it flat out around the corner kind of person, or do you start the car and immediately drive off at a leisurely pace, or are you a start the car and take half a minute to kick into life while you open/close the garage and put on your seatbelt and set your GPS etc?
