LOL ... ya'll won't believe how many emails and sms's and FB shouts I got about this right here...I was busy the last couple of days with hectic work and my baby being 13 days old now so its sleepless nights...don't even know about the public workers strike till 2 says ago!
Anyhoo...my 2c...
I believe this is a good turnout for Alfa Romeo the brand. Ya'll have to realise one thing, Alfa Romeo is an Italian brand, its in the national history books...basically part of the national heritage sights if you will...so the Italians will be up in arms over this, but these bastards don't support Alfa in the numbers as they should. having bootiful cars with lovely sounding engines is great, but not selling cars is not an excuse! Something urgent needs to be done. THey are going into the USA soon and they are a creepy bunch of people to sell to...if you think south africans are blinded by VW's perceived reliabilty then think again!
This is good for alfa purely from a sales perspective...look at what it did to the Lambo Brand...Also, look at Bentley!
Alfa needs cars out there in ALL segments and NEEDS to return to RWD setup!
VW/Alfa marriage? Hell Yes! They tried this with SEAT...but that's just copies of Alfa's!
Now they's aquired the Giugario design house and now were totally screwed! Imagine how VW's will look in Future... i think this is purely out of engineering and style interest coupled with some pure racing heritage that VW want...
Alfa Romeo/FIAT are leaders in engineering and technology...but to excecute their findings is the flaw...its just some time now till those DNA systems go bust, or those electronic diffs, or those multi air tech's when someone puts in a K&N filter or those Stop/Start tech when the starter motor fails etc...these are all issues of the late 70's early 80's which marred Alfa ever since...
