The OP says very clearly: "I bought a second hand car from a private seller. It is brand new and it has done 49,000km."

It's like explaining what the colour of the numeral '7' smells like.

On second thoughts; perhaps the badge fell off so he has no idea of the brand.

Oh, by the way, I'm only joking....of course.

It's also a value for money thing, so I looked at Honda and VW, and the difference between them interior et al was chalk and cheese, for the same price VW did not include Leather, cruise control, climate control or even a radio (I Ish you not, the salesman tried to tell me the radio would bump the price up), went over to Honda got all that and a bag of chips :). In terms of engine reliability the vTec engines were simply crazy with the low failure rate, but not sure about the models. So there are loads of pros for Honda over VW. PS the OP did state it was a Honda. I also have a 10 year old Polo 2.0 and these things were also crazy reliable. SO boils down to personal preference and price I guess

And to answer your thread title, Honda is a more reliable vehicle then VW, but VW builds better quality cars (interior more specifically)

Don't take the car to Bosch...

Take it to Dekra and do the full inspection.
 
Which car do you have? I can't think of a Honda with less than 50 000 km on which sells for R60 000. How much did you pay for your car?

It might be better to keep you car a bit longer. Just don't go racing and spinning every weekend.
 
It's 2013 Honda Brio1.2 comfort I bought it from a private seller for a crazy price of R64 000 he said it was driven by a white lady who relocated to UK. The car is still brand new today I went to honda minors things need to be fixed like the seatbelt machine is broken but the seatbelt work just that when, I drive in unflat road it makes annoying noise. Honda with their crazy price they need R5460 to fix that little machine inside. Hope all goes well with the car next year I'm going for 60 000kms service.
 
Oh yesterday I send the seller a message asking him about the accident he never replied. Other mechanic today just looked at inside the bonet he said the is no doubt the car was in accident in the front but it didn't affect the engine it was a minor accident they repaced the bumper. So I'm hoping for the best because honestly the car hasn't given me any problem it's been 5 months now.
