W@P's Solar System

So i logged another ticket this morning with Hubble. The SOH shows 74% in the cloud link. They connected and called me to inform me that my one battery needs to go in them for repairs. Fsck.
I see Hubble have LFP batteries now:

Wow man, sounds like you got friday inverter and friday batteries. Without a doubt the unluckiest person I have ever heard of.

Right, so I dropped off my battery at Hubble JHB. There must have been around 20 AM-2's lying around on test benches etc and around 30 of the S120 I think you call it also lying around. They informed me while we were still troubleshooting via the Cloudlink that I should refrain from using PBMSTools as it may void my warranty.

Guess what they used right in front of me to check the cells on my battery? Yes, PBMSTools. LMFAO. Even with a made-up cable and not a decent USB-RS232 one like the one Solar Assistant sells. He tuned me their tech guy just left to visit a site and he took the cable with him. HTF can you just have one or 2 of those cables lying around if your main business is batteries and the diagnostic of them?

Anyway, my battery is most likely going to be sent to Hubble CPT to replace the damaged cell(s). Hubble JHB does not yet have the welder to do such work on their site. I assume they courier a fsck ton of batteries back and forth. Stupid.

The batteries lying around all had their job numbers written on them. Numbers currently running in the 2000's. I got a job number for my battery and another job number for my Cloudlink that they are going to do a hardware update on. Also in CPT.

So will have to wait and see how long this is gonna take. I'm not bashing them, just relaying my experience and what I saw. They were very helpful so far from logging the ticket till now. Cannot complain.

This is something I have noticed in a number of the warranty terms, if you connect a 3rd party tool to the RS458 and RS232 ports they may void the warrentee. So no Solar Assistant may be connected to these batteries, PBMS tools is another one.

I have seem in the AM-5 warrentee that they may void the warrentee if you don't charge to 100% as cell balancing only happens when fully charged.

I still suspect your issue is firmware and not cells.

What can you do with these tools?

I am not sure if one can use PBMSTools to change the parameters of the battery. I used it purely for reading data. It also tells you how many cycles your battery has done. The only other way to find that with my setup (Sunsynk + Hubble) is to get Solar Assistant.

So how does reading data void a warranty?

You are allowed to connect SolarAssistant to them, they are partners and they specifically allow SA as there are no battery settings you could potentially alter via SA.

If you have the correct password (123456) and the correct cable you can change the BMS settings including changing your SOH back to 100%. I also understand that there is a specific version of PBMS tools (or PBMODBUS tools for those that use modbus comms) that you need in order to write to the BMS.

I had someone assisting me a while back with my batteries and he could change basically any setting in the BMS on multiple battery brands. Het did not work for the any of the suppliers or the manufacturers.

I had the same issue, but on a different battery and manufacturer. There are also other brands that suffer from this issue but it is now widely reported.

Took 4 months to determine the cause and had to get the BMS manufacturer in China to fix the bug in their software. Upgrading the firmware with the version specifically coded for me fixed my issue. The person who assisted me had a lot of contacts that helped. I am 99% sure the issue I had and what we are seeing on some of the Hubbles are caused by the same software bug.

This makes sense, but one has to ask the question why do they not state this in their warranty.

It is not just Hubble, I have seen this in other warranty documents as well. It is not difficult to limit this to only devices that can write to the BMS.

I guess people should just not tell them then.

Hubble: Have you been using any 3rd part software?
You: What's that?
Most BMS'es also do not store infinite data. A number of the more popular ones only store 400 odd alarm and protection events, so if you reach that limit the oldest alarm event is overwritten by the new event.

Do you know if this is referenced anywhere?

I recently bought Solar Assistant, connected it up and was shown a total capacity of 40.5ah instead of 100ah for my Hubble AM2. So I contacted their support who said it's a firmware issue and they sent me the firmware to uograde (which has fixed the issue).

However the support technician told me I should disconnect Solar Assistant as the warranty had changed for all batteries sold after a certain date (early 2022) and that all 3rd party tools were no longer allowed and to buy their Cloudlink if I wanted anything. He mentioned that they could pick up in the BMS if something had been connected if the battery is brought in.

Absolute BS from them. The RIOT is a POS. I also booked it in as it requires a hardware update. So it can be an up-to-date paperweight.

Whoopsy daisy. Had both geysers, the kettle, ac, and the air fryer on + base load.
