These are my inverter temps for April 2023.

I have ordered the Sunsynk 8kW Fan mod 3d print and will add 4 fans to the side of the inverter.
They will run constantly at first. I don't have a temp sensor and am not sure how to implement something like that.

Will be using a power supply with one of these splitter cables and connectors to power the fans.

Don't have IOT or HA or any of that. Just plain old plugged in to the wall socket and pwer the fans. Thats it.

I must mention that the inverter is in my garage and my garage temps are cold as hell. Even on the hottest of days. It gets no sun from any angle. Will see if I can find the ambient temps somewhere.

Lucky you. My metal garage doors face west and during summer from just after midday turn my garage into a furnace

Even with your heater on the wall?

Then why bother with the external fans?

Yes, it's just to bring down the temps even more. And it looked like a fun project. Not expensive at all. Just fscking around.

I'm very much on board to do the same - my reason being to keep the noisy internal fans quiet. Plan is to hook the fans up to a sonoff which turns on based on the internal temp of the inverter.

65C seems high for the 8kW, although people have posted their 5kW's going into the 70s because they don't have fans. I also mounted external fans but mine are blowing in over the standard fans on the Sunsynk 8kW, main purpose is to have them turn on less frequently because they are noisy. Mine is in the scullery so you can hear when the fans come on, but my inverter almost never goes over 55C.

You can see on this graph how the inverter temperature varies, the red lines show when I added the first fan in December, and then the second one in February. Still need to add the third fan. I am using 120mm PC fans with ducts that I designed and printed to reduce to the same size as the inverter fans. Still need to get a filter in place as well on the suction side as the dust is already building up on the external fans and the built in fans.

That link doesn't seem to take me anywhere. Can you repost please? And any recommendations in Joburg for someone who can 3D print?

Want to the same . My 8kv inverter is also the 50-55 range normally.

Strange, the link works for me.

Otherwise, just go on the Thingiverse website and search for Sunsynk fan mod.
I used Shap3d 3d printing services. Found them on carbonite. You upload the file that you downloaded from Thingiverse, add the quantities and get a price then order.

How much did they charge for the printing?

On inverter temperatures, my 8kw and batteries are in an unventilated cupboard in my kitchen.

In summer it does get a bit warmer and I'll open the door slightly during the day. Screenshot_20230513_095718_Chrome.jpgScreenshot_20230513_095729_Chrome.jpg

Was around R250 per piece.
Please update when you have them installed. Just ordered some mesh screens from Hashrate for the inlet of my additional fans to keep the dust out. It is starting to build up on the fans and I don't want it inside the inverter.

Any ideas on how you would clean the inside when required? Can an installer open the inverter while mounted to clean dust from inside?
