Hi all,

I bought a network locked phone to bridge the gap in the meanwhile, my D600 kept restarting etc during calls / data connections so the w580i was a good replacement.

Now it already had a vodacom and vodacom mms profile set, this is hard coded in the firmware, I can't remove it. I tried connecting using these profiles, to GPRS, no luck. Connection fails.

I've been on the phone with a few reps at Vodacom and they have confirmed my phone is data provisioned and the settings (WAP.GPRS etc.) are correct. I've received them and tried using them. No luck.

Also *111# doesn't work for my phone??? Nor does Vodacom4me.co.za - I have a 071 number and it says I am not even part of the VC network?

What is going on. I would like this sorted out esp. when i'm held by the b@lls with a locked mobile.

155 doesn't work from my 071 number

I tried :(

155 doesn't work from my 071 number for some reason. Can anyone else help with ideas?

This is frustrating, seems like my phone is half activated or something. Can't use *111#, 155 etc etc.

but 082 155 does??? why do I have to pay for this service if I am a VC customer. Aaaai.

Well, 155 called me back, thank goodness for the call back feature. They have confirmed there is a problem with the sim and tech will look at it tomorrow. Hope to come right

Well guys just an update:

What I am happy about:

Just spoke to a kind lady who actually helped find out what was wrong here, it turns out that the autoactivation of certain 071 numbers is problematic and that an ADS department is looking at my query hopefully fixing it soon. It is a pity I never got this ladies name and direct line, would have liked to pass on compliments to her direct manager.

She called around 3 - 4 areas of Vodacom to find these answers for me. This all on a Friday afternoon where guys are knocking off earlier.

What I am unhappy about:

The three calls prior to this one, where the reps on the otherside said that the query has been handled, resolution is to visit my vodashop because they cannot fix the problem or tell me what it is. Please guys, if you get calls at 7pm, don't dump bs on us, we've all worked long hours / shifts before, you are there to provide a service.

Good thing I called back eh?

I tried other VC sims and they work just fine, internet is available and my mobile can be reached (another issue I am having with the current sim).

I hope to get resolution on this.
