WA 30 gig rumor?

Thats some mighty sketchy info to start a thread like this with Acid.:wtf:

What possible reason would WA have to follow a random selection/whatever. They don't care *who* uses the bw, and the potential PR damage from doing so would be huge (People would go around starting speculative rumor threads:rolleyes:). It has zero benefit for them & lots of potential for disaster.

As for the "knew someone on the inside" rumour. Who knows? Maybe 1 of the places did get allocated that way. Can happen...but its hardly a reason to call BS on the whole process.

Besides, I haven't seen anyone yet who applied early (<5am) and didn't get it. All the people crying foul that I've seen were very close to the *estimated* cut-off time.;)

And where exactly can you see who applied at what time? Going by when they posted and said they applied?

okay, so you're saying "shut up in case they decide never to run this promotion because of you asking questions?". To me that sounds EXACTLY what they want? Look. I don't take this **** seriously, that's why I'd rather ask in an open and public forum "whats up dawg". I think the public has a right to know who "won" this "giveaway" and who didn't.

And as for them stating this, they never said giveaway to 100 random people from my broadband. They said it was a special available to the first 100 people signing up meeting the criteria on mybroadband as a thank you for their support and commorating their 30gig special they had 5 years ago (this being 2010 and all)

Would you like me to QUOTE what they said?

Nope, just going by what this dude is claiming that's all. Like I said. Rumor and apparently no one is brave enough to step up and admit to it OR it's not true. You guys really don't understand how this "debunking rumor" bit works. It's only when you ask the questions when you can be presented with counter arguments/facts before you can debunk one.

True, might be just this one dude. Thanks for an intelligent reply. Unlike those who did get these accounts jumping on their little horsies crying about me "moaning" or "bitching" that i didn't get one and being "pathetic". Like I said, just asking the question to hear the facts from a public perspective. Especially since WA never announced (As far as I know) an official list of 100 people. That's all

um no they don't. Those who won have a right to their privacy... and WA has a right to run their giveaways exactly how they want to run them. Sorry. That's the way it is.

They could have said that they were going to give it to people with blue blood and then done it according to their chosen method of determining who has blue blood or not... and even if they make a mistake... there is F all you can do about it... because it's not your company and not your rules.

You can take it to the ASA or the CC... but they are going to tell you to get lost because there are no rules governing a company giving something away in a promotion. You are not a client or customer of the company in terms of said promotion and you have no contractual relationship with them in re said promotion. Therefore you have zero rights and zero recourse. Tough cookies.

About the only thing you can do is bitch and whine on a public message board... but I see you have already made use of that particular recourse. :)
 
@AcidRazor - I don't think anyone owes you or your "source" any explanaition. Whoever won, good for them. Those that didn't, better luck next time. Did you rant like this when someone won/didn't win the big powerball draw as well? Or don't you know of or have any friends at the lotto co.? Boring....buy bw like the rest of us.

lol, getting to the bottom of this rumor that's all I'm interested in. If I wanted to bitch and whine for not getting in, I would've started an entirely different thread. But yea, Toxic actually gave me a link pointing me to what matt said, which is most helpful to me to debunk this ****

No, i didn't. I heard a rumor from a douche bag who has an account and according to the formites here, it's not true. WAMatt clarified (thanks Toxic for the link) and I'm relatively happy that I was lied to.

Now unlike you, I actually work for my money to pay the bandwidth I use. And i don't sponge off of mommy and daddy (much, lol). I'm intrigued, what would you call trying to...erm... make this rumor not true (seeing as debunk is the wrong word?)

I find my facts from the public and the internet. And because you can't believe everything you read, I need input from people. Simple as that. Of course if I were to phone WA and ask them if this rumor is true, because of the nature, they'll obviously deny it. So I find facts/data somewhere else, somewhere neutral.

I'll try and go through some sites for the word I could use there.... if you're such an English scholar, please go ahead and say the word to use....
 
You know, I constantly have to teach my two year old that it's not nice to call people names even when they start it ...
