WA Stability

I am on 30GB WA account but don't monitor my disconnects like a hawk.

I usually surf at night and weekends but I think Tuesday 16th evening to Wednesday morning my connection was very bad. kept on dropping and reconnecting. Today it seemed fine. Don't know if it was an ISP /telkom/modem problem. I don't use the connection during the day as I am at work.
 
hmm, got hit by one of those freezes too just now. Everything just went dead, but still connected.
  • Sites don't load
  • Webafrica site however does load, so its not a line issue. Probably something with their capping system.
  • Traces & pings to international sites still worked & looked good.
  • Didn't recover after a while.
  • Doesn't look like a dns issue.
  • Reset router. Got PAP authentication failed. Couple of minutes later router connected again & all well again.

Definitely some bug in WA's system.
 
i'm still not connected with WA , called the help center and got a message that "you may experience authentication problems" so i hung up.
 
My connection also has the connection 'drop' issue. It is more like a freeze. My link light is on and my data light. So the modem thinks it is still connected. I just reboot the modem and everything is fine again. Only annoys me when it happens at night while I am sleeping and downloading stuff. I suspect Telkom though. When I was still on AfriHost I would have similar issues and when we investigated the problem, it was the Telkom exchange using the wrong ports or something. So after a reboot all would be fine again. Also I have a cheap Planet router, so it could be that it can not detect when something is wrong like the Billion modems. Guessing a Billion modem would sort itself out.
