WACS deployment kicks off

schweet! Can't wait... it has been way too long already! Let's hope there is still a country to link this bandwidth to in 2 years time!!!

You know with all their 'investments' in these cables systems I am curious what the roi they expect. I mean you see telkom and voda in almost all cable systems.. surely they have a bit too much capacity

OMG - before too long we are going to have an EXCESS of bandwidth in this country........WOW. Who would ever have thought, and you know what an excess of something normally means ? Excessively low prices :) or is it

Neotel is to date the only player involved in all the systems (SAT-3/SAFE, SEACOM, EASSy and now WACS.) Vodacom, for example, is only in EASSy and WACS.

You're kidding right? These cables are not as expensive as you think - to put it in perspective, last I checked, the installation cost of just one of these cables would roughly fit in either Telkom or Vodacom's profits for a *single quarter* - at current prices etc., six months worst-case. They'll hit break-even and then be rolling in money in just about no time flat, even if prices drop (margins are wide, and current capacity compared to potential demand is miniscule).

These cables are getting me very excited to be honest. I just hope they make the difference we hope they will. :D
