You should see how well Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) works, press one button and I've got a wifi hotspot! In fact, I'm using it now with my desktop pc. Superb!

It just works all the time. ;)

Er no... Honeycomb is a future tablet Android OS. Gingerbread isn't even 3 months old yet. Dunno what blogs you've been reading, geez.

So I see your fail and raise you a /facepalm

Let's see :

1. My battery life is two days & using it a lot. Depends if you want to save battery life, or have live wallpapers (oh, this is awesome, BTW!! Have you seen this? Wonder when iPhones will get it, if ever)
2. Android > iOS True multitasking vs "Apple's way of doing selective multitasking", the list goes one
3. I have Android 2.2 (runs perfect) and will get Android 2.3 update in April.
4. I've got Tank Commander, Gun Bros, Angry Birds, etc. on my phone, so you are talking rubbish.
5. What use is a 960 X 640 on a 3.5'' display? Do you get a magnifying glass with it. :p

So can the iPhone 4 be a portable wifi hotspot? Can you listen to radio?

Its not as cut and dry dude....

1. Congrats on the battery usage, but according to all trustworthy tech review sites the Desire HD battery life sucks for example: Like this one from Engadget (You have heard of them right?)

"You might think that all these gloriously fresh innards would necessitate a cost-cutting exercise elsewhere and indeed they have. The Desire HD comes with a 1230mAh battery, which falls short of most current smartphones' standard equipment, and is especially low if you consider HTC managed to fit the EVO 4G with a 1500mAh unit. We took the new Android handset out to Portugal with us recently for our Nissan Leaf test drive and intentionally left the charger at home. Sadly, we can't say we were impressed by the result. Leaving the house with a fully juiced Desire HD at 11AM, we got to enjoy some very light browsing at the airport, a 30-minute round of Angry Birds while in the air, a few pictures taken en route to the hotel, and then some WiFi-based web exploration at our resting place before the battery gave up on us in the evening. Sure, it lasted "a whole day," but our use was minimal and the wireless radios were throttled by the phone being in airplane mode for half the time. Take that for what it is, it shows that you can squeeze a day's worth of frugal usage out of the Desire HD, but only if you're careful and plan it ahead of time"

2 Whatever bro it works, please refer to the above for battery life

3 And when will you get 3.0? 2012?

4 Sorry Ive only ever heard of Angry Birds, oh yes it was ported from ios. Im talking more like Dead Space, Need For Speed Shift and Id Games' Rage. By the way you need to be able to install apps larger than 25mb to run these bad boys.

5 Yes that is the only way you can see the pixels!

Peace!

Edit: Oh and yes I run MyWi for my hotspot needs until 4.3 brings official Wifi Hot spot. Give me Pandora for radio

Once again people: Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) does not exist, it is still in development and will only be released for tablets. Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) is the latest phone OS only having been released in December.

To only take 4 months to add the Sense UI is damn good in my opinion. And yes if I wanted vanilla Gingerbread on my HTC I could install it tomorrow.

Thats cool man! I wonder why SE announced that they will be updating the soon to be released Xperia Arc to Homeycomb?

http://boomnews.info/sony-ericsson-xperia-arc-honeycomb-upgrade-confirmed/

Must be pulling the same BS they pulled with the Xperia X10. It will not be updated past 2.1 as you know. Apple on the other hand still has the 3 year old iPhone 3g running the latest software.

1. Because Android offers so much more in terms of UI customization & apps, you can drain the battery very quickly. But if you you use a few clever tricks, you can make the battery stretch quite a bit. Also, the HTC Desire HD CPU is newer generation and uses a different manufacturing process, which conserves battery life. My best guess is that's why HTC used a 1230mAh battery.

2. Refer to the above for battery life

3. I don't need 3.0 (it's a tablet OS, but might later be used for phones) and I definitely don't need constant 400MB updates from Apple!

4. Yeah, Gun Bros. came in at just over 100MB for the data file, which installed fine on my SD card.

5. I know and I feel sorry for your eyes + the fact that you can't actually use your phone to surf "real" web sites. I do.

Peace!

That I cannot tell you; however, after the Honeycomb release Google will be working on the next phone release Ice-cream Sandwich which will combine Honeycomb and Gingerbread. I suppose it's theoretically possible to install Honeycomb on an Arc, in much the same way you can install Ubuntu :/

Also be careful not to put the blame on Android for the slacking off of phone manufacturers. Remember pure Android phones get the new OSs hot off the press and companies like HTC (thankfully) only take a few months to update their UIs. So unfortunately not all Android phones were made equal.

The Desire HD is an awesome device and I was really really tempted to go for it when I upgraded recenty, if there had been stock I would most likely have owned one right now. I'm just saying that it's not just cut and dry. Both devices have their pro's and con's and to just blast something out of the water because you happen to own something else is just closed mindedness.

I can for example mention a few things that I like about the Desire HD:

1: The unibody design is awesome
2: The screen is huge
3: It feels incredibly fast and responsive

I bet you can not name one thing that you like in Apple's latest devices?

Fanboyism is the worst form of buyers remorse...

8MP Camera > 5 MP Camera

You cannot compare mega pixels directly. More is not always better, but it will take up more space. A cheaper 8MP camera will probably not be as good as an expensive 5MP camera. It's just marketing - if you're really concerned about image quality, compare pictures before jumping to conclusions.

That being said, the iPhone's camera gathers a lot more light than other phones I have seen, improving low-light image quality. Now would you rather have a good 5 MP picture, or a grainy 8MP one?

I fully agree with you. I think Microsoft's approach of: 'You make the hardware, but no touching the software' is where Android will have to move towards in the future. It's been said a thousand times, but Android, as great as it might be, is just a fragmanted mess right now.

I wish I could, but I honestly think my old iPhone 3G looks 1000X sexier than an iPhone 4.

If Apple made the iPhone 4's design similar to the new iPod Touch, it would have looked fantastic.

But instead they opted for a metal band to house the antennas & we all know what happened + people say its uncomfortable to hold in your hand when chatting for more than 10 minutes.

So, whats left to say about the iPhone 4? Not much.

Lets hope the iPhone 5 will be much better.

My friend has an htc desire hd and the transitions between screens and touch sensitivity isn't as good as the iPhone 4.

Sidenote: the gpu on htc desire hd isn't as powerful as other android phones

The iPhone 4 looks awesome, it's just the crappy covers available in stores that suck
