Hi,
I have a huge problem last year I applied for adsl from telkom and till now have seen no progress made I have phoned them about a million times the first time they told me it'll take a week. So after a week I phoned again then they said it'll take a month so i said fine, well to cut a long story short they keep on telling me it'll be done but have seen no progress has anyone had this problem? They say it something to do with the wiring but my neighbor order adsl and got hers up within 2days PLEASE HELP SOMEONE!

lol ... sorry for laughing at your story, but i was faced with the same issue about two years ago where telkom just seemed like they weren't interested in helping me.

the only advice i can offer to you is to escelate this to the highest power you can, keep escelating until you get someone who's actually competent (there are a few of them at telkom beleive it or not).

i understand your frustration, all of the best

Call back and let them know that it's stipulated in the regulations that installations are to be done within 30 days. Since it's been a year, if it's not installed ASAP, you'll be escalating the matter.

Search the forums here - there's a few high up Telkom no's - I'd phone and k@k all over them. Otherwise go to the shop and try reapplying for DSL. Maybe your order will be on top of the pile :)

Does Telkom actually support ADSL in your area? If they do then you need to get a reference number and keep using the same reference number so that they can track. If you are getting nowhere then ask them to "escalate" your request with the same reference number.

If they do not support ADSL in your area, then you need to ask them what alternatives you have by way of wireless.

Or cancel the order (providing its still up and running) and then apply for it again. Don't bother doing it over the phone, do it online. It's easy. Then they phone YOU for everything.

If after 2 weeks no joy (state a self-install) you tell them your neighbour got ADSL installed within 2 days, why can't you and in the same breath say if the person on the line is going to lie to you again like they've been doing for over a year you'd want to speak to their manager...

"I want to speak to your manager please" <-- most powerful words you can utter. If they refuse to put you through take their name and get a call reference. They HAVE to put you through so if they argue tell them its just going to cost them their job as the call is being recorded (both on their side) and lie (on your side as well)

neighbour got ADSL within 2 days. I suppose they do hey. Case of tl;dr?

Odds on that the original order has been cancelled by some target chasing telkom employee?

If you have the original order number, send an email to [email protected] with all the issues to date and demand service.

to get things done, bottom line is u have to not just roll over and take their k@k. keep asking to speak to sum1 higher up, ask for their name to involve them personally etc etc. - and keep calling.

Thank guys I will try all your suggestions. Our country has so potential we jus hav **** people running it,imagine if all the people on this forums were in charge, S.A would be AWSUM:D
